Crysis Mods

why not upgrade your OS if you want eye candy? xp doesn't do dx10 and crysis is dx10 reference title

Dosn't it run worse on Vista/Win 7 and is much more system hungry? I thought you could force the dx10 settings in xp? As far as I know I have forced them all on with some config and cvar editing.

Thanks for your searching efforts!
I can't wait to try them out. That Rygel Texture mod says it is for crysis warhead. Can these be used for both crysis and warhead?

I'm not sure bout this. I know realifesis will only work with crysis and not warhead. Try the textures and see. My personal recommendation is that you use rygels texture update 2 and don't copy over the first pack in the. Rar. Instead, use rygels second texture pack in the. Rar only and use the hi def foliage pack instead of texture pack 1.

The other thing to note is that Realifesis is rig hungry. As an alternative I use normal(vanilla)Crysis with hi def foliage and rygels texture pack(but only the second pack contained in the Rar)plus my own custom autoexec, game config, system config and cvar files all edited by me. As a result the game looks very nice indeed and runs a lot better than realifesis. However, I must admit realifesis still looks slightly better.

really hope it gets reduced further in the final steam sale, really want the game, ill mod it with graphics tweaks, ive a very funny feeling its already been on sale and ive missed it..

Hard to believe that Crysis was released on November 2007. The is still one of the best looking games out there, and compared to other modern fps performance is much much better.

Indeed. It's my favourite game of all time(well, that and Warhead). It really annoys me when people say its all graphics and no gameplay. There are so many different ways to play the game and alternative tactics to try. Every play through is a different experience which is what I like about it so much. Even if it didn't look this good I wouldn't like it any less, but the awesome graphics(and the ability to make them even better with mods)are just the icing on the cake.

Sonic - not a dig or anything but how does your system cope running a HD4650?

I remember back when i had my 2900XT and it was, you know, playable but putting all the eyecandy on was not possible.

im guessing he's running it a 1366x768 ress :D

If you're playing it for the first time, play it stock. With two 580's you should be able to play maxed out, max AA no problems and it still blows aways most newer games - the fact it's not a console port really shows:

This is on a single 5870, 1920x1080 res, max settings, 8xAA and playable framerates (40 fps average, which is fine for Crysis).

Close! I use my own custom configs, system configs, autoexec and edited Cvar's as well friend for better framerates. Also, running it at a native 1280x768, with no AA.(My 20" Monitors max res is 1280x768, and my 37" Tv although 1880p through Component and Hdmi is only 1280x768 max through Vga although the cone filters and upscale engine actually make it look really nice). I also find a little bit of general Overclocking helps. These things help to optimise the framerate. However, I must admit my own custom config install of Crysis(non Realifesis)runs better than Realifesis at the mo. I get about 35-50fps average on my own custom install but only manage 20-25 on Realifesis currently. Looking to upgrade gpu and ram soon so maybe in the future I will be able to optimise things a little further.

Installed Crysis this morning and i'm looking for the best mod to put on it. Running it on Very High (everything) and 4x AA and it's running beautifully on my 5970 at stock, well happy as I remember running it on a 8800GT back in the day!

What's the best mod for this then people?

sonic what resolution are you running those mods at? and what in-game settings?
I run two versions both at 1280x768. Everything forced to very high. Using my own custom Configs, Cvars, and Autoexec to optimise things.

My own custom install runs extremely well and very, very smooth. Realifesis dosn't run as well(maybe 20-25 fps on average) but is still playable. I'll post some screenies of my own custom setup later so you can compare.

Just installed Reli 2 (above) running it at 1920x1080, very high settings with custom config, getting an average of 25fps. Screenies below.

I think the HD foliage would make it unplayable for me, seeing as anything lower than 25fps average will give noticable stutter, and i dont want to lower the res. Perhaps when i upgrade to a gtx580 I'll give it a go.

Edit: And lol didn't see you posted reli2 further up the page. I spent half an hour finding it myself when could have saved time if I'd just read above.
