Mk1 toyota Yaris'...thoughts and opinions?

I have probably spent less on my cars running costs in 4 years than you have on your BMW in 1 year, u jelly?

What next, you telling us you spent less on your camping holiday than somebody else spent on a trip to Africa? :D

My point was that it isnt a car bought for looks, it's a car bought for practicality - it's a small citycar for popping to the shops etc. Thats its purpose.

In the circumstances, i'd suggest the same probably applies to Vita though, as he seems to view it as something a bit above its actual station :p

I'm not viewing it as a "OMG IT'S TEH BEST CARZ IN TTEH WORLD".

It's good for what it is, it's not excellent, it's isn't a Mercedes, but for a small little runabout it isn't bad.

Have you actually genuinely ended up spending £7000 on it + insurance though?

Sure it's a good runabout but I don't think it's good enough to warrant dropping that much money on.

As city runabouts intended to get people who have little interest in cars from A - B then perhaps they can be described as "Good cars", if not a little dull/uninteresting. For practically everyone else on this planet you can do better, particularly if you have neigh on £3,500 to spend and seemingly don't give a stuff about what you pay for insurance.

For Vita it doesn't remotely seem to be a "Good car", and that's before we get into the whole "7k to get on the road in an old Yaris" angle.

Well, a 1.0 one did a fine job of taking me and the other half 1000 miles across France and back with a weeks worth of clothes, camping gear and a lot of essential tools 'just in case'.

Ok, it wouldn't have been my first choice but it did the job just fine. In fact, it was a god send when we took a wrong turn and ended up being directed into the heart of Paris via a load of one way streets. So whilst I was dreading it when I found out we'd have to take this (I spent most of the night trying to fix the Corrado :P), it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be once it actually came down to it - don't knock it until you've tried it ;)

It is a small hatchback, therefore how good it is can only be comparable to cars in direct competition - in this aspect it is a very good car. Yes its primary purpose is as a town car, but that is what it is good for.

What, the looks are not that bad, I think they are pretty good for shopping cart, plus you would be lucky to get a your shopping in the boot as its non existent :D

Mine looks exactly like this

So hate Vuaxhall Corsa now the Toyota Yaris, what else do you hate?

You'r coming across as troll in this thread

I haven't even bought the insurance yet, as I am still looking. If it doesn't work out I can sell it for a tad more and make some good profit on it. As it's immaculate for it's age, and hasn't done many miles either.

The reason the insurance is so high is, my postcode, my age, and lack of holding a driving licence for a year, and NCB.

Where did I say I hated the Yaris? Nowhere. I don't hate it.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Toyota Yaris when used for its intended purpose.

I just totally disagree with rubbish like a Yaris T Sport being an 'ideal first car' when it quite clearly isn't.

Are you basing that statement entirely on the fact that it is supposedlt costing Vita a lot of money to insure?

The Yaris as a whole is a great first car IMO. Whilst my 1.2 Corsa cost me £1500 for my first year of insurance, the Yaris cost my OH just £500 for her first year!

What are you talking about  ?

This thread is not about first time car, according from the OP

You just derailed the thread for no reason, Vita said something about the thread and you had to be typical old TWfox

I haven't even bought the insurance yet,

Interesting. So it's currently uninsured? How did you get it home?

I am still looking

Really? Why did you imply you had purchased insurance in the other thread, then?

Why can you make some 'good profit on it'? Surely it was sold to you for what its worth, if it was worth more then why didnt the seller sell it for more?

You even told us that you felt the price you paid was..

maybe a tad much

Yet now you think you can sell it on for a 'good profit'?

Blimey, so many inconsistencies

I think your only options are to either a) sell the car or b) try using Bell.co.uk and:
  1. Suffer a large excess
  2. Set the annual mileage to as low as you could reasonably imagine you will drive
  3. Add two adults with no convinctions or claims that are in their 50s (literally anyone)
  4. Go for a 10 month bonus accelerator option
  5. Set a slightly low value on your car, but enough to enable a large excess
Hopefully then you will have something approaching reasonable. £3600 is ludicrous!

Got it back on one day insurance.

Sorry I implied it like that. I meant that is the quote I got.

Because he hadn't had any intrest in it. And the same models all be it, a year newer is going for £4k.

You even told us that you felt the price you paid was..

Blimey, so many inconsistencies

Because for a first car, it is a bit too much no?

Done, some of those. Minus the two adults, low value and annual mileage.

At 22? Cool, we've been after a place offernig Dayinsurance for under 23's for ages as it's a common question on here. Which company?

Sorry I implied it like that. I meant that is the quote I got.

Fair enough :)

Because he hadn't had any intrest in it.

Exactly - so if he hadnt had any interest at a higher price I doubt you would either, therefore there isnt good profit to be made surely?

Because for a first car, it is a bit too much no?

Nah, £3k sounds like a fair amount to spend on a first car.
