This windscreen damage anything to worry about?

Hi,

Followed a dump truck on the slip road to motorway and it kicked up a stone and it caused this unusual trail on my windscreen. From what I can see and feel it's only a surface scratch. Probably about 4-5 inches in length. Will it develop? MOT passable?

It will develop and yes it will fail an MOT.

If it's in your eyeline, that won't pass an MOT im pretty sure.

It's at the wiper level. Anyone know if Direct Line do excess free windscreen replacements? Will check later when I have access to insurance docs of course.

I can't feel it from the inside. It's not deep at all from the outside. I think the camera has made it look worse than it really is.

Contribution of £125 if I use anyone else but their approved Autoglass or Auto Windscreens. Will ring Lexus and see what they plan on charging first.

Does claiming for a windscreen increase premiums?

no increase in premiums, I've claimed for 3 now

get it done, last thing you want is the entire windscreen to shatter

You can keep driving it fine, there all laminated so won't suddenly shatter apparently.

Thats what the Autoglass guy told me when i had an almost identical crack in my windscreen years ago.

we had one in our work vito, crack got bigger and bigger till the whole screen shattered, no danger as you say its laminated, but couldnt see a thing

You won't feel it cos the screen is laminated. Had a very similar one earlier this year.

Laminated screens shouldn't shatter at all, only the old toughened ones did that.

broke into about a million pieces once the crack split all the way across the screen, like i said didnt do anything more than impare our vision, but shatter it very definitely did

I think you mean it crazed, not shattered.
