Where to eat and stay in Brighton

Italian with a large glass window by the seafront: alfresco. It's by the west pier. It was surprisingly good food considering I went for a work do, but I'm not convinced it would be the best you could find in Brighton. Jamie's Italian was good when I went for a late lunch there.

Casa Don Carlos is great for tapas in the lanes, but you'll have to book.

I used to frequent an Italian restaurant called Opposition, not sure if it's still there, may changed hands/name, it is/was in Market Street which is like Italian central. If you want cheap/reasonably priced, Donatello's is good, that's in Brighton Place, which is just round the corner from Market Place.

To be honest, you're really are spoilt for choice in Brighton for food and restaurants, best bet would be just to have a wander and check out what's about.

me and the missus got engaged in brighton and we stayed in myhotel

spensive but ace

try laterooms for a deal

If you're going with that someone special, I can whole heartedly recommend the Drake's Hotel and their restaurant in the basement - The Gingerbread Man.

It's pricey, but had a great weekend there. Take full advantage of the bar staff as well, particularly if you're a whisky drinker. :)

Ginger Pig aswell, I think they have a few pubs/restaurants around the area with a good reputation.

That place is expensive but it seems a bit TOO quirky for me.

i.e. No bathroom door, some rooms has a view of a concrete wall, for the money I think the Drakes is better with nicer decor too.

Thanks for the restaurants tips guys, will check out the tapas place, and Alfresco. Though still short of places to drink?

I used to like Casablanca, is that still there? With the live bands? But that was in my uni days, I do remember it being small, in the basement, dark, low ceiling with sticky floors...

To eat - Mai Ped Ped. Or if you're after something more casual, try out The Office - Really nice pub in the laines which does amazing Thai food (really amazing).

Can't really give that much advice for somewhere to stay, as I've always lived in my own houses there. Although, my ex used to work at a really nice little hotel on the sea front just to the left of Preston Street. All rooms are different, family ran, really nice people. I forget the name though.

There are loads of places, I always think that Brighton is one of those places that you need go where your feet take you and leave it to chance. There is too much to choose from to plan ahead.

If you like clubbing, Oceana is prob the best place to check out. There are plenty of pubs that do live music aswell.

Edit: If you like live music, it might also be worth checking out what's happening at Concorde2 and Audio.

Actually, looking at their January deal, the prices are not that bad (I just love the sea view in some of their rooms), what room did you stay in?

I've been to the Krater comedy club several times, and generally aside from idiots talking, it's been very very good. £3.50 is a steal although you will be packed in like sardines!

If Stephen Grant is MC'ing then it will be good, he destroys hecklers and disruptors!

We got a late booking, so stayed in the top most room. No sea view sadly, but we weren't interested in that so much. Hehe.

I can't decide between Sea Spray and Drakes...

The Drakes is only £10 more per night...worth it I think?

From reading the review I think Sea Spray is too much like a B&B than a boutique hotel. Some photos by the guests shows the decor is rather tacky and cheap.

this one?

One thing I am concern about is the glass door in the loo. As big a fan I am seeing a silhouette of a lady taking a shower, I am not a fan of her watching me taking a No. 2...somethings are best kept private!

Do you know if any room have a normal ensuite? lol
