I tried a trainer at home once. I forced myself to do 15 minutes and then gave it back to the owner. They sold it a week later.

Most boring form of exercise ever invented.

Shorts when its -10c is mental. You're all right as long as you keep moving, but what happens if you have to stop? You're very quickly going to get very cold..

Just don't stop :p

I was out in -10 with just shorts, a long sleeve thin top and a t-shirt over it. I did, however, have a buff style thing and a pair of windproof gloves which helped....

You really don't feel the cold when you are cycling.

Computrainers are good tho, still turbo trainers but they simulate gradient by alternating the load, measure wattage and everything, brilliant training tool.

As for cycling in cold weather, anything under -5 and I don't tend to go out as all it does is cause pain in my throat and lungs and it's pointless riding in it cause it's not going to be training that will contribute to anything.

Not when cycling, but what if you have a mechnical? Or you fall off and hurt yourself? Or you come across someone else who's hurt themselves? Stand around for more than a few minutes, and you're going to be dangerously cold.

If you use it for going on a bike ride with then yeah ;) I do interval training on mine. Do a little warm up, then 0.something miles taking it easy, one mile going really hard (about 30mph), hurts like a beach

Took my bike into my LBS today for them to sort the gears out as the cables are frayed, sluggish shifting and completely out of index. My chain was rusty and the bike filthy so hardly in a good state to be worked on.

When I come back later for the bill, the bike had been cleaned up, chain completely lubed, new cable inners put in, the cable outer shortened, all the bolts torqued up, stiff headset fixed, gear indexed, pedals greased and all for £17. This is the same shop that bled both my brakes for £13 :D

Not all LBS's are bad!

This is my new build. I spent hours picking each part and i finished putting it together last week. Isn't she sexy?

It came in £600 over budget but it was worth it to get the new rockshox team revs so ive got 150mm travel front and back

What santacruz do you ride?

That pic is in black and white with whatever finishing kit i could buy in colour (red). it was the only pic i had on my phone.

I like my colours brash! :D

Thats a nice bike. I looked at the Heckler but went with the Compulsion1 as its slightly lighter and comes with 150mm travel (also it was new and cheap). Never thought of using anything but an RP23 though. what travel do you get on that?

Im only small myself so it does me fine. I like the bash, a friend thinks its too much. I'm looking to swap out the wheels for some red ProIIs. this pic it has Chris King Iso's but ive got ProII on it now (the wheels were to expensive for a student budget)

Here it is in colour:

No way is a bashguard over the top, it'll prevent you getting some ghasty injuries should you ever fall off and get tangled in the bike for a start :p

The travel is the same on the Heckler 150mm, you swapped Chris King ISOs for Pro IIs??
