Sometime in the future, within the next 5 years I would like to get a small weekend car with a great sounding engine and fun to drive. ie a V8.

With a relatively small budget, say £2k, what cars would be available?

The plan would be to slowly repair it and "do it up". It does'nt need to be purchased in A1 condition, because it would be a hobby slowly fixing it up.

Anyway...what would be a great sounding, small hobby car?

Seriously? A spec me thread for a car you might buy within FIVE YEARS?!

This has to be an all time record.

What about a Monaro. Who knows, with the forthcoming oil crisis they might be £2k in 5 years time. It's about as accurate a guess as you'll get :D

Within 5 years, not in 5 years.

Whats with the sudden love for Vaux? Thought you where BMW through and through?

Does this not call for an NSX? Everyone knows that the NSX is win and better than all. A chap I know said they will be available for as little as £2k in 5 years time, only a V6 though :(

Nope, I've just ordered a new Insignia CTDi.

lol, have you turned a new leaf? and a derv, lol. Anyway you seen the light in the end.

Also the car needs to be sort of DIY friendly!

It's a 2 door car not a Minibus.

What about a C55 AMG? They are £10k now but who knows in 5 years.

They are £10k??

Saloon or estate, proof please.

I maybe totally wrong and off track, but are there any decent sounding Z3, Z4's that could be in this budget, a duffer that needs fixing up...

The Z3 and Z4 never came with a V8 (Except the stupidly rare Hartge stuff).

It doesn't have to have a v8! Just great sounding, v12 for all i care, it would be a weekend only blast-a-bout.
