Car Wash

I don't think I've cleaned my car in over a year. Simply haven't had the time, plus I've moved out into a flat which has a private garage; unfortunately, no power or water down there so I cant wash it at home. So a car wash is looking like a more promising situation, unless I get some time this weekend to take it back to the parents and use their driveway for a few hours.

I'm concerned with the lack of undercarriage washing when doing it by hand.
And sod the ramps because that just isn't happening.

I always wash my own. Try to do them on alternate weeks but that doesn't always work out.

When it is very cold weather I take it down the Jet wash with a bucket, sponge, jerry can with 25L of water and car shampoo so that I don't annoy the resident ice police.

Use the Jet wash to soap it up first, then wash with my own shampoo and sponge then finish off with the jet wash. This seems to whip the local mini cab drivers into a rage that can only be matched by the occurrence that the cheapest of budget tyres is currently out of stock and the next cheapest are £2.23 a corner more expensive.

Car wash? What's that?
Mine only sees a hosepipe when I rinse the salt off from the gritting.

You go to all that trouble but still use a sponge?

I've just spent £150 on cleanyourcar buying supplies, no letting an immigrant rub a grit covered sponge/rag across my car, or a hard brush, thanks.

had mine hand washed by immigrants over weekend, cheaper to pay them £4 for a good job then freeze my nads off and faffing about with snow foam and the like.

It does astonish me how people don't care about the condition of their paintwork, your car is probably the second, or in my case, THE most expensive thing you own.

Last thing I'd do is let some nobody wash it with god knows what.

I try to wash my car once a week (this being a normal vacuum, wash and dry), a full wash, wax and polish comes once a month.

The recent weather though means the car hasn't been waxed or polished in about two months which makes me sad.... :(

Inside looks lovely though lol.

I've always used a sponge and my cars tend to have very few swirls when I compare them to ones of a similar age (or newer in many cases).

As long as they are clean I can't see a problem.

I've said it before but I will say it again, if you want the ultimate hand job, have a look at this place near me! :o :D

Honestly though I like to do it myself but recently I have chickened out and gone to a local hand car wash and paid a fiver. They do a decent enough job but not as good as when I do it.

Then again, I sit in my car while they clean it rather than go watch a film and come back to find its disappeared. :p

I quite enjoy washing mine, i like being able to stand back at the end of it and see the shine. Doesn't happen every week though, more like once a month.

Lazy mode/haven't had a polish in ages > Carwash, the program that also lays a layer of hot wax.

Not long after polishing & waxing it > By hand 2 bucket method with meguiars nxt gen shampoo and a wash mitt & drying towell.

How often ? Winter about once per month, the salt & snow makes it so dirty it's not worthwhile washing it that often. Only wash it when it's really dirty or when I've been hit with salt directly by one of them grit trucks.
Summer at least once every 2 week.
