PC for photoshop

As per title, need to build a PC for my mate for use with photoshop and using very large raw images

She was after spending around £500

I've thought of:

i5 760
8GB OCZ
Asus P7H55-M/USB3 board
Corsair 460w PSU
Corsair C300 64GB SSD for windows
Samsung F4 EcoGreen 2TB for storage

With Case and DVDRW already covered

Any suggestions? Am i overkilling it a bit with the memory? (it's just that it was so cheap, and if i remember rightly photoshop loves memory)
 
6 gig of ram would be sufficient, but 8 can't hurt. Although i cant remeber if the i5 760 is dual or triple channel, would mean you either want 2 (dual) or 3 (triple) sticks of ram. If it's triple and you need 3 sticks go for 6gb of ram (3x2gb sticks). If it's dual you could get either 2x4gb or 2x2gb sticks.

I've done complicated A4 size Photoshop print design work (300dpi) on a dual core 2.33ghz and 2gig of ram machine before, a little slow but it worked fine, so your machine will be pretty powerful.

One thing to consider is the sandybridge i5 2500k CPU. It's mega powerful, more so than the more expensive i7 920 /950. And you won't need to buy s graphics card as the i5 2500k has in built graphics.
 
I would wait for Sandybridge coming out this Sunday night. If he's only using photoshop then the integrated GPU will be fine. Apart from that, everything else seems fine.
 
Doesnt the latest version of PS use the graphic processor in some way, might be worth looking into

Integrated GPU, where?

AFAIK the H55 chipset features Intel FDI which supports socket 1156 CPUs with integrated graphics, such as the i3-5xx and i5-6xx (Clarkdale) series. As stated earlier, an i5-760 is going to have to be paired with a dedicated graphics card.

Seems that's somewhere i was going wrong, i was intending to use the integrated graphics, never realised the 760 didn't have it which makes things interesting.

What GPU would you recommend for this if PS has some neat graphics card boosted features?

EDIT: looking at the cost of the i5 760 i've just realised i'd be stupid to both with it, i could just put a sandy bridgy i5 2400 in for cheaper and with integrated graphics and a H67 board?

Well considering it's for someone who will be using it primarily for photoshop work related activities and i'm building it for her i doubt she'll be looking to overclock any time soon...

This is what i am looking for a new PC for photoshop CS5 & Microsoft Word , trouble is so hard to choose what to go for these days , trouble is how much do you spend ?

I've been asked to spec something up for £500, i've gone slightly over with this spec by about £40 - then there's also the consideration that i already have a case, dvdrw and windows 7 licence available to use with it.

It depends on your requirements with photoshop really, if your using it for quite basic purposes there's no reason you couldn't make a £200-300 base unit that's nice and fast to fit those requirements, if your using it for more advanced things and the possibility of future 3d imaging then my above spec is probably more suited.

Just don't know if it's really worth putting a seperate GPU in there over the integrated i5 2400 one?
 
My Dell 1720 seems to be doing the trick after doing a few mods to it at moment with photoshop CS5 but looking to upgrade to desktop , i have around £750 - £800
