I mourn the bacon. Couldn't they butcher them and create some kind of pork stew at a high enough temperature to be safe? It seems like a monumental waste, made worse by the way in which the piggies were killed. Pigs are apparently similar mentally to dogs. We'd go mental if they buried doggies alive.

Pigs are smarter than dogs and very very similar to humans, I think they are ranked like the 4th smartest animal in the world, those pigs felt just as scared and hurt when they died as you would have.

Out of interest, why do you consider the Halal comment ignorant? I was under the impression that Halal wasn't the best way to kill animals, and there were more considerate methods - but it's hardly something I've looked into.

I've searched for rankings before but all I've ever found is that it's not possible to rank animals by intelligence - I have to say it was a fleeting notiion and I didn't spend a great deal of time on it.

But you have the point I was trying to make, those pigs would have died slowly in utter terror.
