Kid Shoots Himslef With Uzi At Gun Fair.

It could only happen in America , when it comes to gun laws total brain dead and they never learn , so i am never shocked ! ! !

Pardon? if you're going to be insulting the intelligence of some 308,745,538 people, you should at least convey your opinion in a manner which indicates that you yourself has some claim to intelligence.

Though the post was very short and lacking in argument, i think you know what was implied as well as i or anyone else reading it "at what point does ANYONE think letting a child of 8 years old, fire a fully automatic weapon with live ammo is a good idea?" supervised or otherwise, the decision to let that happen is a serious lack of intelligence from many, the event organisers for letting minors fire loaded weapons, the range officer for giving such a weapon to a small child, and the father, well, he's got to live with that decision now and i would personally hold him fully responsible, so yeah, stupid, stupid people.

Stupid, stupid people indeed, but you can't blame EVERYONE in the country.

Doesn't take a genius to work out guns are an issue in America.

Doesn't take a genius to work out guns are an issue in America.

they are of course, an issue, but no-where near are they the issue that is portrayed by the media and by common opinion.

the overwhelmingly vast majority of legally acquired weapons are never used in crimes, and i can't recall any incidents where a registered and legally held NFA-restricted firearm was used in a crime.

furthermore, in towns in America where firearm ownership is extremely high, there is actually less crime of all kinds.

Solely blaming firearms for what is actually a cultural issue just makes no sense.

I was very intrigued to watch, but I didnt want to see a small lads head snapped in two. Parents are too blame in this one, especially when he "signed several waivers". What does that say???

I was always amazed that the gun store (gun rental place in Vegas) offers a rental package for the under 12's

http://www.thegunstorelasvegas.com/gunrental.html

I went there in the summer, signed a piece of paper and within 5 minutes was letting rip with full auto weapons in a shooting range.....

Why can you shoot at targets, but a child can't?

YOu can go bowling, and a child can, you can go shoot a bow and arrow, a child can, you can go surfing in an ocean with sharks in it, a child can, etc, etc.

You can add a million things adults do that children also do, some safe, some entirely dangerous with potential for serious injury.

Potential for injury does not make it an adult activity. I've forgotten what the place is called, an adventure park type place in the uk, went on a school trip. Go for a week, kayaking (potential to drown), abseiling (potential to fall from a great height, get rope caught around head, all sorts of things IF IT GOES WRONG), we shot bb guns for target shooting, we used bows and arrows, went horse back riding which by the way, the entire group of 20-30 of horses got spooked by a nearby motorcross bike, they went mental stampeded, one person broke their leg, most of us were thrown off our horses, it was VERY lucky no one died.

There is NOTHING wrong with a child shooting a gun, or partaking in a potentially dangerous activity, we all did many such things as kids and almost all of us let our kids(or will do) similar activities where if something went wrong someone could die.

The amount of utter tripe in this thread is laughable, not least the "only in america stuff" though that is rather limited in this thread for a rare change.

I've shot guns in the uk(scotland) when under 16, I believe I was 14 or 15 shooting the slightly smaller gauge shotguns(20? 30? can't remember, 12 is standard right?).

A gun isn't safe in ANYONE's hands when handled incorrectly or if the gun is too much for the person, how many youtube vids of big dudes using a massive rifle having the scope smack them in the face due to recoil. A gun in the right hands, being used for target practice, in a controlled enviroment isn't unsafe.

The kid probably shouldn't have been using an uzi, high recoil and a little kid, it was bad judgement, but I have issue with anyone complaining about the age, or the fact it was guns.

What would you all be complaining about if this was a kid who fell from a climbing wall in a climbing centre which people deem as "safe" because of poor instruction, not much at all.

AN accident, preventable, sure, most accidents are, so what, thats how life works.

Strength requirements make fully automatic firearms a pretty adult activity though.

Would have to be down right negligence/intent not just poor instruction for a child to fall from a top rope, short of the instructor passing out or just letting goof the rope intentionally

intelligence

I'm not sure what you're confused about. please elaborate.

Yeah, bowling and shooting, they are definitely in the same category aren't they. That's why you get all that drive-by bowling in downtown LA, because they are equally dangerous. Oh wait, no.

An adult may have been able to control the firearm in question, an 8 year old would not have. Quite frankly I question why anyone should be able to fire a weapon like that which had fairly poor support, without prior experience.
