Am I right in saying the Sandy Bridge chips also come with graphics? If so when you add a discreet graphics card for games what use could you put the sandy bridge graphics to or would it just become redundant?

It becomes redundant. Remember the onboard graphics can only be used on a H67 MB and not a P67 MB.

Same as an onboard GPU on a mobo really, slot a card in and you can't still use the onboard can ya

Also, Asus R3, before one of the mods shouts at you, your sig is twice the size it should be - 4 lines max mate :)

Also, if you use a P67 board (the only ones that currently allow overclocking) then the integrated graphics core can't be accessed and you must use a discrete graphics card.

Thank's for the heads up ;)

Whats with all these questions all popping up from people with hardly any posts? Almost all of them can be googled or just searched on the forum or even actually just stop a second to look at the cpu forum section where there are 10's of sandy bridge threads. Failing that could have just posted in one of these threads if it was too hard to comprehend how to figure things out for your self.

Getting kinda annoyed with these now.

Oh man.

Unfortunately not everyone has the opportunity to scour through all the posts. SB is new technology and it's unusual to have graphics bundled with the chip so it's not surprising it's confusing for "people with hardly any posts".

Nothing a FAQ won't sort out in due time!

No wonder this forum has a rep for elitism.

This forum is full of knowledgeable people, all he did was ask a question and he recieved an answer rather quickly as a result. If he was surfing around reviews and such he probably wouldn't have gotten his answer so quickly.

Maybe the forum should be locked down, and we can have a little forum where we can all tut at each other and shun anyone who is new and wants to ask a question... god forbid that.

I was unaware that common sense and knowledge of a search function or the ability to just look at the forum page and see the words sandy bridge all over it was elitism.

Also it's not just this post, there are loads of them popping up with trivial questions that could have easily been found out. Or are even answered in the thread bellow them. It's just not needed.

The best one being "what is sandy bridge?" I'm sure google could never have worked that one out and I guarantee you google would find it faster than posting on a forum.

Or asking if i5 or sb i5 is better or asking if sb is unlocked. All of these are answered to death over this forum and a review does answer all these questions quickly as well if its a decent review and they are posted all over this forum too and over google.

:EDIT:

I'm not saying that questions shouldn't be asked on forums but asking questions that are repeatedly answers all over the forum is just irritating, especially to see multiples of them on the same freaking forum page!

thinking about getting a SB setup and then getting a new card later on.

do both 2600 and 2600k have graphics in the chip

is that comparing a SB with a hd5570

would like to no what the on board graphics are like.

would it compare to an i7 920 and a gtx480?

i dont know much about these chips. (only just started reading up on them)

Are you trolling now? I've just linked you to a specific part of a review where the performance of the integrated graphics is measured.

And the comment regarding GTX480 is just retarded.

Sigh, when I wanted to learn how to put pc's together I actually did some research on it and alike and I didn't bother asking people questions till I felt I had to to further my knowledge. Now days people just want to be told what to do like sheeps.

What are you looking to get out of your pc? Gaming? Video editing? If you are gaming you can rule out using the graphics processor on the SB.

The graphics processing power of these chips is limited. Which is clearly demonstrated by the review that you were linked to that you clearly havn't read.

ok Albert! ill read it now make you happy. forgot its you forum.

maybe you should make a new forum were only you can ask questions to things you dont no about. then google them. then answer them.

The forum is to search the answers that cannot be found using available means. Nobody asks you to go search other forums looking for the answers but two things you should use before asking what seems to be an easy question:

1) Search button on these Forums
2) Google Search

After that you're free to look for an answer on the Forums. See, not everyone treats the Forums as an Information Bureau, some are looking for a place to discuss things (hence Forum), exchange information.

You've been given the answer you're looking for and yet you refuse to look into it yourself.
