WoW account locking

Trying to find out the reason why a World of Warcraft account keeps getting locked. The e-mail title includes Account Security / Compromise / Hacked -- Locked Account. And this was verified trying to log into game last time it happened.

Not had any reply from Blizzard webform, so is there a UK phone number for contacting them? Had a quick look on Battlenet website and found one for technical support, but not account issues.

Can't really browse too much as not at home.

If it keeps happening on a regular basis, you probably have a keylogger on your system and they are flagging it as hacked when a different IP from somewhere else in the world logs into it.

I'd make sure your computer is completely clean first.

I had this when I had to use a vpn to log in, if I tried to log in whilst connected to the Netherlands server it used to lock my account because I am from the UK. It is possible that whatever system they have implimented is detecting your ip address as being foreign to your account and locking it.

Only been using a trial of Wrath of the Lich King for an old account, and lockouts started the on final 3 days left of that trial.

Just wish Blizzard would be a bit more specific, as I'm none the wiser if a problem with my machine or if Blizzard are just being too sensitive to things out side of my control.

Will install an outbound firewall tonight and a scan using Kaspersky trial, before considering a reformat. Bitdefender Pro 2011 antivirus didn't find anything.

A) Never pay attention to those emails half of them are scams, B) DO NOT click any links in these emails.

If your worried try log into game if it still works disregard the email, if you cant log in try phone or make a webnote wait a few days, weeks, months, years whatever it takes for blizzard to reply these days lol.

Doesnt the trial require you to upgrade your account once its over? could be why its locking you out.

It was trying to log into the game that I first realised the problem. Then checked e-mail to see I had the alert. Didn't follow any links from e-mails as using game client link to website. Has now happened for a second time.

E-mail account is fine as records list IP details when accessed, be by website or a client.

Except it had not expired (had a few days left) when these messages started coming.

I've never had a problem with this until my Kaspersky subscription ran out (3+ years)! Since then i've tried MSE/Avast/AVG... And in that period (2 months) my account got hacked and then locked due to suspicious activity 3-4 times.

Had enough and re-subscribed... Had no problems so far!

Then something is wrong. Your account getting locked out is down to security with Blizzard (i.e. someones found your username and trying to unlock it) rather than the antivirus you are using. The only problem is if it ran out and didn't update the definitiions and you got a trojan/keylogger then that would be causing you the issue rather than you swapping to MSE, et al.

I was recently locked out, I've been using by account on the same two IP's(fixed) so I don't know why it moaned now.

They also made me change my password but the max limit is 16 characters. =/

That's what I suspected happened to me. As I’ve just found a load of spam that got filtered containing phishing links. So I’m assuming that someone tried to guess password and triggered Blizzard to lock account. But not been able to get Blizzard to confirm the reason behind lock, so given them feedback accordingly about being too vague.

This is one of the reasons I hated blizzard changing the login to email rather than a login name! Loads of people have my email address and loads know I play WoW not hard to figure out? Rather than using a random login name that no one knew!

The worst thing Blizzard did is allow changes of password without verification. The only thing I can recommend, and hate recommending as it shouldn't be needed, is the authenticator.

Blizzard Entertainment recently received a request to change the e-mail address used to log in to the Battle.net account with the username neil**@hotmail.com. The e-mail address k***@hotmail.com has been specified as the new username for this Battle.net account. An email has been sent to this new address containing a verification link to complete the change.

Once the new address has been verified, the e-mail address neil**@hotmail.com can no longer be used to log in to this Battle.net account or any World of Warcraft accounts merged with this Battle.net account.
I get a lot of these and i don't really care, you can have my Blizzard account and wow account if you want. Because pretty much it's empty :D

The link is blizzard accountadmin service which isn't even a proper blizzard link, fools!

i keep getting those emails all the time saying that the login email is being changed..... tho when i mouse over the link it has us. in the address so it's trying to send me to the american site.... so i don't worry :P i asked blizzard about this and they said yea thats a scam, ignore it :p

now i have an authenticator so i don't worry bout it :)
