There's a voice that keeps on calling me.
Hey folks,

I need the forums advice on dressing meself!

Ive got a reasonable job, where im constantly in a suit, and it seems like im constantly going to weddings aswell, so its time I got myself some decent shoes, as Next doesnt seem to be cutting it anymore, ie they dont seem to last that long.

Anyone care spec some decent brands, I dont really want to spend much over £70, ive got big feet so i dont want any of the pointy clown shoes, I did have a samuel windsor advert in a newspaper, they looked ok, but are they any good?

Ta for any help!

buying shoes when you have big feet is a pain.
for comfort I have a couple of pairs of clarks, they seem more comfortable than any others i find on the high street.

lol my dad brought me and my brother a pair of those samuel windsor shoes on a punt as they were reasonably priced if they were (as they say they are) hand made. lasted about 3 months - avoid. i'd get some from m&s if i were you.

They arent that big, size 11, but I find some of the modern cooler shoes for the youngsters :p look silly on me!

My last pair from M&S lasted exactly 12 months of Mon-Fri and probably used 3/4 times a month on nights out or other events. Were £50 and held up well.

I have a pair of Samuel Windsor.

Best shoes I have ever owned :D

You can tell they are handmade, and once broken in (takes a week or so) they are awesome, hardwearing and very comfy!

I got some decent looking shoes from Burtons. I know they aren't exactly haute couture but they fit the bill and are perfect for work as they are fairly smart and don't look out of place when worn with a suit

I did pick up a pair from Burton for £20 in the sale, not used them yet but for £20 can't go wrong really, down from £70 iirc.

No its not just you, even my mrs says it, they're bloody plimsolls!

I can't stand them personally, reminds me of the poor kids at school who couldn't afford a decent pair of trainers :D

My smart shoes are all Base (of London). Two pairs the same brown and black for smart-casual and nights out. Bought in Schuh (check out their Sale if still on)
One pair of more smarter ones for wearing to formal functions weddings/funerals etc. Bought in Office (I think).

Once broken in they're comfortable enough but for every day wear in the office I've got some Clarks, which really need replacing actually.

Pumps is a British term I think you'll find, sneakers is the American. Pumps is from the olden days........I think you lot call it the 70's :)

Is it? Well, I hadn't had my 2nd birthday before the 70's were over so I wouldn't know :p

These are pumps :D
