Hi,

Received my order today and arrived in this packaging..

Now this isn't exactly a complaint at the moment as i've not got round to opening it, and everything may be in order. But, I have to admit I do feel quite disappointed at the packaging OCuK has used on this order.

I've bought from OcUK a few times in the past and the packaging has always been pretty decent, a solid cardboard box with lots of packing out as you'd expect.

We are talking around £370 worth of fragile kit (Core i5-2500K, P8P67 PRO mobo, Corsair XMS3 4GB ram). Not just cables, a couple of fans or something.

I notice you use DPD now also, is this normal packaging with them? Has everyone else's kit arrived like this recently?

Anyway i'll update when I get round to opening and can check if everything's ok.
 
My graphics card arrived like that a few weeks back. To be honest all was well and there was no damage to anything, but it would be nice if there was some kind of outer box+inflated bags to give a bit more safety.
 
Doesn't look well protected from the vibration of being in the back of a van tbh. Not cool.

I got bags of air packed with my kit a few months back, I think that was DPD too.

Hey,

I purchased something from another place online who also use DPD. The way he threw the parcels around in the van was an absolute joke.

To top it off I watched him drive out of here and the guy wanted his license removing. If a car was coming down the hill there would have been a crash. Clipped one side of the road curb with his back tyre he was driving that retardedly.
 
to be fair it must be safe enough, if there was any damage it'd be a str8 case of it being replaced and OcUK having to go through the hassle of claiming back from the courier. i've received loads of stuff thru DPD, not OcUK stuff tho, and the items have always just been in the original box with DPDs 'bag' round it. never had any problems......touch wood

Lol, I imagine this fella was a rare case, Ive worked for Royal Mail in the past as a Posty and I know a bit about different people in the field and the majority handle peoples goods with respect.

Looking at my Gfx card box now there is barely any squashed corners or anything, it looks pretty much as it would if I picked it up from a shop.

Throwing parcels about even if they are boxed / padded will not do the contents any favours, but protecting them from glancing blows or squashed boxes wouldnt go amiss.

Its very easily for a courier to accidently bump a package on a van door or shelf for example.

I can't type out what the guy was saying whilst on this forum but something along the line of

"fudging conundrums - not even my fudging delivery route" - was 6pm and his van was 1/4 full still!
 
Mine arrived this morning exactly the same. A bag with the motherboard box and CPU inside. Nothing was dented/broken and (touch wood) I seem to be one of few who has had zero problems with my SB rig since first boot about 5 hours ago :)
 
I would flatly refuse to accept something that looked to have been packed / treated negligently enough to cause damage. Good luck.

I should add that I've always been very impressed by OcUK's packaging when I've purchased from here. A competitor threw a load of watercooling stuff loose in a box, I was not pleased when I opened it. Fortunately no damage, but I haven't bought anything from them since and would advise people against them, if the forum rules allowed me to.
 
My orders are generally packaged well, big orders are in a box, bubble wrap, air bags and so on.

Single order items like GFX's are in those courier bags, never yet had a damaged item, or box.

Well you know how it is, I thought it's at least worth a check. The delivery people can't be arsed to stand there why you check out the package contents, and you can't really tell with this kind of stuff if it's broke until you test it out anyway.

Thanks for good luck though, i'm generally an unlucky person but 'touch wood' this will work.
 
Well I got round to having a look, and doesn't look damaged so far. As you can see the motherboard protection isn't great either..

Will test it over the next few days when my SSD arrives! Please god work. I HATE having to RMA it's such a hassle.
 
Last week my 1TB hard drive was packed pretty poorly also, to be honest I wasn't sure if it would work.

It was placed in a jiffy bag with thin bubble wrap which was placed inside the white plastic bag of DPD along with a GTX460.

It all works but is very poor packaging and was quite surprised to see the packaging in this state, especially a hard drive.

Boxes with those air cushion plastic bags are definitely needed.
 
I think we're all trying to say PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE OCUK Go back to city link because they don't throw the parcels around as much or drive like loonies. and pack better? haha
