Afternoon,

Need to get all 4 tyres on my 2009 1.6 TDCi Ford Focus Zetec changed before it's service next month. The tyre size is 205/50/17. Just got a new job where my commute will be via train so the car will now be used very little, probably just to Tesco's and back every now and again! It currently runs on Continental ContactSport 2's but this seems a bit overkill and and to replace these with CS3's will cost me around £630. Been quoted £472 for 4x Goodyear NCT5's fitted, will this fit the bill or is this still overkill?

Thanks in advance.

Lot of money for a set of 4 tyres for a Focus. But IMO you cant skimp on the most important aspects of a safe car! And tyres are something not to go cheap on! But £472 for 4 is a lot! I'm sure I have seen decent ones online for around £65 per corner.

I will have a look!

Where are you looking at those prices? Surely you can find them cheaper than that?

It does seem a hell of a lot of money to spend on tyres for the car it is. I can only dream of £65 a corner! Thank you.

etyres / blackcircle / camskill - the tyre size seems to be a complete nightmare. Got the Goodyear quote from a local place that offered a discount because of where I work.

Thats the Falken and Kunho both good tyres! Hardly budget brand, they have linglongs at £40 for that :D

From race track to road - the FALKEN flagship tyre.

Precise handling and high directional stability.

Maximised aquaplaning behaviour, longitudinal and diagonal, for highly agile and well-balanced driving in wet conditions.

Low noise across various speeds.

Sophisticated tread design in unique FALKEN look.

Maximum safety and durability.

I recently put some Falken FK-452s onto my 323 and find them excellent for the money (I paid £124 for two fitted, 205/55/16). Your size does seem to add cost on as they are £91 per tyre from the place I got them for your size.

If you were prepared to pay that much for tyres in the first place, I'd look at ContiPremiumContacts.

I'm still not convinced by these cheaper tyre brands, but that's just my 2p.

Maybe it's the width (205) thats a bit more uncommon, wouldn't 17's normally be wider than that?

I take it they are aftermarket wheels hence the funny size?
