What a fab little machine!
When I handed over the keys to my 730 today I was expecting the usual 116d or 318d but I was instead presented with the keys to a Mini One. The service manager apologised for the car but I said "No problem, I've not driven one before so that's cool".

The car is just FUN in a big way. Fun revvy engine, fun smooth gearbox, fun go-cart handling. Everything from the mental dashboard to the electric window switches is just FUN!
Did I mention that this car is fun?

If I had a need for a small car I think I would get one of these. OK, they're expensive compared to a comparable Fiesta but with the servicing packs they do and rock solid residuals, they look like a good proposition for TCO over 3 years.

Sorry if you know and hate these cars but this is my first experience with a Mini and I'm really rather smitten. I kinda hope my 7 needs to stay in over night so I can thrash the Mini around some backroads tonight.

My girlfriend has a Cooper and they are a blast to drive, low down seating and decent handling :) Not too kind to the spine over bumps though mind.

The fiesta is not only cheaper though but even more fun to drive! The latest model really is a cracking little car, the mini felt dull in comparison.

like every other quality small car then

yet whenever someone on here shows interest in one they are told that they dont want fun because surely they must want the ability to cruise on the motorway so smoothly that they could play jenga on their huge dash. zzzzzz

glad your enjoying it

Meanwhile, back in the real world, this doesnt tend to happen when somebody asks about a Mini

Yeah that happened here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18226085

Oh wait it didn't. I'm happy to be proved wrong but I think that happened in your head, not on OcUK.

If you can live with the image they're fantastic cars.

Haven't driven the One but the Cooper is great fun to thrash around in. They actually feel reasonably quick when you work them hard.

I find it a source of enjoyment as these conspiracy theorists can NEVER substantiate their claims, however it's ultimately annoying and frustrating as you are always met with 'I CAN'T BE BOTHERED YOU ARE ALL HORRIBLE *WELP*' when you ask to see some evidence of it happening.

The latest versions of the mini are much more refined compared to the first ones, sure it's no 7 series on the motorway but not at all bad, certainly no worse than my Focus ST was.

I must say I think the mini love is growing on this forum recently, maybe because more of us are getting in touch with our feminine sides ? ;)

Seriously though, fantastic little car, thoroughly enjoying mine..

I got a cooper s convertible sitting out there, great little car apart from changing gears.

If the DVLA let me have my license back, a Mini is on my shortlist of cars, namely the Cooper, but in automatic guise(i know i know, but easier for me).

How the ride for bumpy roads?
