So i just finished cleaning the computer after mounting a new CPU cooler and since the motherboard was coming out i felt like i might as well.
I cleaned it almost 100% (apart from the areas i couldn't reach)

Fan blade by fan blade....everything.

I have an Antec 1200 so im lucky with the filters keeping a hold on the dust, but i would like to know everyone elses methods of Reducing Dust in the house.

So please, share your methods of keeping dust levels down.

And i don't just mean case modifications, i mean anything. (I've read about air purifiers and will possibly purchase one soon!)

Thanks,
Ox

Dust buster LOL.

Isn't really a way to avoid dust, unless you clean your rig out every week or have several dust filters however these impede airflow.

I only use an air purifier during June-July when I get hayfever.

Ensure you give the room a weekly vacuum clean with a decent vacuum cleaner (like a Dyson).
Remember to pull out furniture and vacuum behind there every now and then.

Your PC will always get dust in, no matter what filter you use or how often you clean your room, but keep the room clean helps a lot.

I only clean out my PC about once every 3-4 months.

the mesh stuff on my tj07 appears to collect all the dust on the outside of my case, so i clen them. after nearly 3 years of having my rig ive never cleaned it out and its still the cleanest rig ive ever had. Once Its dusty enough to warrant it, or I upgrade something that involves me draining it all and taking bits out ill use a can of air to clean any little bits.

Around the house, meh, I cba to hoover my room often enough, only once its dirty, so it gets dusty but seems to avoid my pc lol.

Yeah unfortunatley dust is one thing we'll never get away from. I recently (when installing my HDD) took out all the hdd from their cage and gave them a good clean. It's suprising that somewhere you wouldn't expect to attract a lot of dust gets quite a bit of it. I also find that the outside of my case is always dusty.

By a Air Bed pump about £12, just google it and get the one with the best air pressure, Air Dusters about £5, the pump will pay for its self in no time.

Tip - get a 2" brush give everything a going over first then give it a blast make's it a lot easier and a better job.

Yea i don't buy compressed air anymore, just take my computer into my dads garage (mechanic) and make use of the compressor.

Obviously i make sure not to blast the caps off the motherboard etc. :p

I've had it when it comes to dust.
I have a rather large 70Kg plus dog who's drool travels 20ft at light speed. Its like glue and be from 1 inch to 12 inches in length. Add the amount of dust he adds and you have the perfect environment for being single:D

The only way is to clean and clean and have a air purifier going to suck the dust from the air in my case.
Roll on the summer:p

Did you find the air purifier helped reduce dust a little?

I think so, as when in the room with it on for a while the blocked sinuses are relieved a little bit. I only really notice the dust in the air when the sun shines through the window in the morning!

I certainly wouldn't buy an air purifier for anything but allergies though. I think mine was a standard one from Argos and was £50.

Wear an NBC suit.

Im sure my family will all agree to wear one and go into a clean room before coming into the house.

Not sure if my dog will be fond of the idea though.

Plastic containment around the house too, like in E.T

E.T can hoover the house.

I use the wife undies to attract all kinds of nasties!!! It's amazing what they pull in dark dingy tight places!!!

Seriously, I use a large very soft paint brush.. gets in all the cracks, vents and fan fins, then a plastic nozzle on a spare vacuum i have. Does the job very well and no expensive over hyped air cannisters.. I hate doing this on client PCs.. after all, it's their flaky skin tissue - nice.. I've found toe nail cuttings, cigarette butts, condom sleeve and even a broken beer bottle inside in one particular case.

Tend to use the AF Spray Duster here! Its not the cheapest but provides a good blast. I have 1200 like yourself and dust filters are very good.

As for vacuuming i use the good old Henry Hoover :) lol

I cannot defeat dust. I vacuum fairly regularly and have no pets but it doesn't seem to help. After cleaning my heatsink and fans recently and seeing a consistent 7 °C reduction in load temps I've decided just to repeat this cleaning process every few months.

My god! Couldnt be dealing with that. Your Brave mate :D

Heard of some people using make up brushes, to brush dust off components, but i think you have to buy a certain type so as not to make any static.
