I am a bit worried about other people threads about their sandy bridge build. People say it not working. I don't want to spend a lot of money on my first build and then when done it does not work. what should i do??

Some people are saying it was a bad batch and others havegot unlcky or overclocked improperly. I would just wait a while.

There will have been hundreds sold (who knows, maybe even getting close to 1000), and there's been about 2 confirmed deaths?

The rest were just a mix of dodgy overclocking/BIOS trouble/mistakes I believe which are mostly now ok.

+1

This is a massive launch for intel (first new architecture in over two years) so a lot of people are buying these chips.

Compare this to the small number of people with dead chips - then the failure rate sounds pretty normal. Also, people with these issue will get replacements ASAP.

i think i will go for it with the sandybridge build i am looking forward to building and seeing how it performs.

I would post like a spec me thread before you buy so people like stulid could make a better build for you and give you advice.

Looks very nice.

The only adjustments I would make is go for this HDD and this wifi adapter (so you get better reception and don't use up any more motherboard slots).

You may also want to consider going for a 6950, these cards are fast and seem to unlock to 6970s quite reliably. To help meet this cost you may want to go for this cooler instead (perfectly sufficient for a 4.6GHz overclock).
