Yeah those garages are incredible Blackhawk. It's always the way in life, you think you're doing well and then you see people that are just on another level, something I experience every time I visit Miami.

Mark, I can probably help you with your planning permission "woes" if you wanted to convert your original building instead, there are ways if you're connected ;)

Its too late to convert one for this now really and i want to use the permission iv got to build this before it runs out, but that would be good for the future.

Although i will say the **** in charge of my planning department is an arse and we have fell out in the past over many things including my tree culling :) So with all the weight in the world your dad might struggle on my behalf in this area.

what are peoples thoughts on having garages separate vs integrated ?

Personally i'd always thought i'd prefer integrated. Saves you having to go outside to the cold when getting in the car, but then it doesnt give you the room to have something like this :

I spend a lot of time with some of the people on that forum, a lot of them are great friends of mine and as you can see, some of them are disgustingly wealthy!

I actually prefer built onto the house simply because I like to be able to walk out into my garage even if its raining, however, I prefer the look of detached garages.

I cant see any huge advantage of having it attached to the house.

The other block of 3 garages we already had we built me sons flat apartment what ever on top and behind it, which if it had been attached to the house we couldnt have done.

Its all just money in the end isnt it, how much do you want to spend on what amounts to a hobby? You aint reclaiming the cost of building with added value to a property once you step over a line, i mean would you give an extra 300k for a massive garage on a 3 mil house that your never going to use? No you wouldnt, its a nice bonus if its all in at 3 mil but unless you find a car nut to buy the house it turns into waste, now im rambling but you get the idea.

Looks very nice and I personally prefer the bi-opening wooden doors. Had to get a roller door fitted to mine as the wife wanted low/no maintenance. My pseudo double garage looks like an outside toilet when compared to what you're having built :D

My wifes just not talking about it any more, which is a bonus :D

Horse keeper - I have a barn with 8 horses! * rides off smug*
Diamond Mark - I have a total of 1000+ horses in mine! * revs engine*

If it's just for parking the cars in : No preference. Probably whatever looks best

If I'm gonna be working on the cars in there: As far away from the house as possible as inevitably I'll set fire to the thing!

I like my separate garage, I can do what I want in there without worry of fumes/noise affecting anyone else in the house. Also I have a nice PC area and beers etc. in there, it's 'my' den. Plus the missus always leaves me alone when I'm down in the garage. :D

Here's the first impression of what my version of the original will look like, with 3 and 3 not 3 and 2.
