Well, from that article:

More than 500 people are now known to have died in floods in south-eastern Brazil, the country's worst natural disaster for several decades.

Being a human, I think that is a tragedy and considering the victims' families it must have been harsher for them than the dog's owner.

I didn't say "who cares about the humans" its terrible. I wasn't saying it was harsher than losing members of your family, I was only commenting on the video reported as its quite sad and being a dog owner and lover it just made me think about being in the same position.

I see where you're coming from, I'd hate to be put in the position of having to decide to let my dog die to save myself.

I'd have taken my trousers off and tied him to me.

Thats exactly what i was trying to get at, i prolly would have tried to tie it to my back, or placed it under my jumper. i couldnt imagine being in that position either

I felt a bit sick watching that video on the news last night, also watching some Australian farmers trying to rescue a drowning cow - dunno what happened to the cow but it didn't look like they were going to be successful, the cow was very distressed as you can imagine. I don't think news outlets ought to be showing this kind of animal suffering on TV

Human suffering is fine, but animal suffering is not? You're either an idiot or a troll..

And FTR, I have two cats and until recently, a dog (who sadly passed away), and I'm as much an animal lover as anyone else but even I can clearly see the human element of this disaster far outweights the animal one.
