The Current Government

No, the changes to armed forces, the unnecessary cut to public sector, the lack of direction in economic policy and the lack of a plan is scary, say the least.

im happy posting in these same threads everyday.

I don t actually really care who is in power now as all 3 parties will happily blunder and bumble along and we will all deal with it and get on with our lives. In another 4 years there will be another global recession and we will blame who ever was in a previous government and get on with it.

I think the current government are doing exactly what it takes to get the country sorted. They said there would be deep cuts and they were right.

TBH the cuts so far haven't really affected me other than fuel price, but I am happy to pay if thats what it takes.

All government's are the same, they dont represent the ordinary people, just their own bank accounts and their rich friends. Its just more transparent with the current government (but they are all the same), as the rich and powerful carry on as normal and the poor have to foot the bill.

Deliberate open ended question: are you happy with the current government?

Yes I am generally happy with them, I'd prefer an outright rather than a coalition but so far I'm happy enough with them. (though I still wish they had used the snipers approach on the tuition fee "protesters")

the poor have to foot the bill.

Really?

Given that "the poor" are eligible for all kinds of funding (housing benefit, for one), and that they pay miniscule amounts of tax anyway (someone earning £10000 pa pays only a few hundred in tax, whereas someone earning £30000 pays nearly £5000 in income tax alone).

The poor contribute less to society, both in terms of the jobs they do and the amount of taxes they pay, so can you please explain how they are "footing the bill"?

Yes i am happy on some departments... Hopefully at some point immigration will be sorted.

Only big problemis Fuel price... But oh well :(

No, I don't like:

- Back-door privatisation of the NHS. Far from our GPs organising our care as promised, it turns out it'll be the likes of KPMG.
- Council spending cuts designed to adversely impact services inner-city councils like Hackney, Liverpool and Manchester while councils in rich areas will hardly be hit at all
- Michael Gove, the education secretary
- The emergency budget last year, government claims that it was a progressive budget was shown to be a down right lie according to the IFS.
- The Prime Minister is a massive liar, he has lied about VAT, bankers' bonuses, front line service cuts, EMA and cuts to the size of the army. What's more his chums in the media largely give him a free ride on his lies.
