Funnily enough I drove this one in my search for a 5.. Doenst seem that much quicker than mine, a bit more revvy maybe.... its a mint example but its got a wobbly bottom pulley, I think due to a mis torquing of the bolt holding it in which would have borked the woodruff..... I walked obviously

I was looking at this one, and I've been attempting to communicate with the vendor, without much luck (I got one response, ignoring half of my requests and no more since).

Wobbly how? As this car is under £3k now, seems like a good opportunity for the sake of replacing the crank pulley?

If you email people with a list of questions, they'll ignore most of them. Get a phone number and call them, it's the only way otherwise you'll just get frustrated.

Might be more than the crank pully that need's changing.

exactly, Could have caused crank bearing problems and all sorts... or it could have slightly warn the key, either way the harmonic stablizer was all over the shot on the pully.. Its actuall a common fault caused by the bolt torque...lots about it on the US forums

I did a video at the time but you cant see it.... It could just need a new woodruff, pulley and bolt... or it could need more.

he may have had it done by now as I did tell him it needed doing.

I think for something like the MX5 where driver involvement is a major component, supercharging is a far more suited upgrade.

I've been reliably informed that these engines do not suffer from the same keyway issues that the early 1.6s did. Can you describe in what it was that lead you to the conclusion you did?

Don't waste your time Tag, it isnt worth it. Mike is an expert on everything, nothing you can tell him is right and he is totally convinced that a Honda Type R is absolutely the right choice, which is why he's asking about MX5's.

When someone who has had countless MX5s over the years, including two supercharged MK1s and a high powered turbo MK2 RS tells me these engines do not suffer from the issue in question, I listen.

Is anyone else bored of every thread over 1 page long just becoming a MikeHiow vs. Fox slagging match on topics wildly different to the initial subject? Just get a room you two and get it out of your systems.

On another note, met up with Tagg last night and saw the MX5 (in the dark and rain :(). Looks very nice. Interior is in great condition, and wheels look spot on. Could do with a little bit of a lower but other than that, great car. Shame the drivers a bit of a chav :)

Shame it was wet and dark, wanted to have a proper look but will leave it for another day :)

Well, I'm genuinely interested in getting information about this car Taggart viewed, Fox decided to stick his nose in. What can I do? :/

Well unless you are going to force him to sell the current car he has, or perhaps fund him buying it as well as the current one, hes never going back to that original car so its utterly pointless trying to beat him down with your uber knowledge is a waste of everyones time.

Get a life, and go find another thread to trash.
