Better fill those tanks -Fuel protests are coming back!

Those of you saying it's a waste of time - what do you propose regarding the excessive levels of tax on fuel?

It is a waste of time, how is grinding a busy urban centre to a halt 250 miles away from Westminster, going to achieve anything other than, a) make people unassociated with setting tax, duty, and fuel prices late for wherever it is they need to be, and b) turn the majority against you.

"Yeah we're really sticking it to the man here! We made Matthew 4 hours late for his shift at Burger King and they docked his pay. Take that you upper class toff's!!!"

fox i guess you are defending these pigs because you just love a forum argument

but anyway I cant see how anyone can see the increases to taxation on fuel as a good thing? Fuel is disproportionately over taxed and it is effecting everything in a negative manner, i cant wait to see the inflation figures for january, im guessing 4% all because of increased fuel costs!

No one wants to pay more tax on fuel, now is the time to do something about it, time for the haulers to park up on the m25, take a leaf out of the french's book!

finally, need to bring this country to a stand still to make these tory pigs listen and stop the duty rises!

By stopping every day commuters who have no say in when fuel rises and how much it rises by, getting to places where the need to be on time?

Your logic, is illogical.

No, I'm correcting you.

I don't disagree with you, I just think we should apportion recent blame accurately. The high prices are largely the fault of the Labour government who took the opportunity of falling oil prices in 2008 to begin a 2 year program of ramping up fuel duty on a large scale.

The ball is now in the current administrations court.

How will bringing the commuters of Newcastle to a standstill effect the government in London in any way what-so-ever? If anything, the crawling slowly in traffic will make said commuters use MORE fuel and therefore end up giving the government even more tax money.

Our Gov claims that we are in line with other European with our fuel prices, errr no?

European countries include Vehicle duty in the fuel prices, yet with get totally shafted with that also.

That's nearly 20 years old. The duty increases are from Labour.

Who here is disputing that?

Anyone trying to blame the current government for the state of things now, needs a slap

Far too expensive to drive, but living in one of approximately 5 places outside of London where transport infrastructure works - Harrogate - I get the train to York. This is because it is the equivilent of 20 gallons of fuel a month back and forth for a whole month, for a 50-mile roubd trip. Driiving would be double that. Though the trains are scruffy and old.

If - and only IF - there are quick and integrated travel solutions available, current prices at the pump are not so bad. When you have to sit in jam after jam, crawling along burning fuel at a manic rate, then it quickly becomes unaffordable.

Fuel protests will achieve Jack. The stoodents have failed, public sector has taken a pummeling with a meek and pathetic response and the last government drew up contingency plans to ensure it didn't have an impact by prepping the army to deal and making it easier to clear protests from refineries.
