Sorry for the rubbish title!

But I have to fill a bag with 10KG worth of weight for tomorrow, now I have left it a little late. So what house hold items would get me to 10kg? Or is it better just sticking with 5x2litres worth of water?

Got to be comfy, as will be doing 15miles with it on my back.

Even something I could pick up from Tesco tonight.

Thanks.

Frozen meat? Let it defrost in the bag and then cook it when you get home, sorted!

Serious answer.. Water would probably be cheapest?

Water is probably the simplest but you could equally use tins of food since they handily tell you the weights on them. I'd suggest folding up a towel or two and sitting the items in it to protect your back as otherwise they'll probably start to dig in.

//edit or bags of rice/oats/similar would do and have the benefit of not having hard edges.

10 litres of water might be a bit bulky - i'd imagine your best bet would be to use something more dense

10L isn't really very bulky, by the very nature it will only take up half a standard rucksack (20litres normally).:p

Rice is a good call though, or a mix of cans, rice and water bottles.:)

Watch out for flour though as that could get messy.

I'd get a 5litre bottle of water (~5kg), which should fit in the middle of a large rucksack nicely, and bad out with 6 tins of potatoes or something cheap padded out with rice (~5kg). Padding is essential to evenly distribute weight. Potatoes may be the better option as they flop around.

10kg bag of rice is what I use in a rucksack. Water will move about and unbalance you whereas the rice will conform to your body shape.

Nice one! Will have a look in Tesco tonight.

It has to be pretty comfy we will be knocking the miles up from 15 to 100 over 4 days.

It is the best thing I have found, everything else either moves about ruining your run and causing uneven exercise or is just too bulky or uncomfortable.

Thanks, no doubt you have plenty experience with heavy bergins too! :p

No doubt much heavier than 10kg!

why would you carry water? lol, imagine carrying 5 x 2L bottles, just imagine how awkward that is to hold.

Rice or flour i think.
