Anyone know if Dell usually give extended warranties on their laptopn/notebooks after the first years warranty?

Yup they do (up to 3 years I think). Goto the Dell website/support section and type in your Dell Express Service code (found on the bottom of the laptop) and you can extend online.

I think I paid around £120 for 3 years (this was a couple of years ago)

I managed to get a year warranty for £35. Could only get a year because it was already a year out of original warranty.
