Newcastle - Things to do?

Err.. I'm wearing a snow jacket and Ugg boots.. I'm obviously a tourist then!I'll look out for the blue people! I thought Toni & Guy are hairdressers?

Looks like I chose the wrong day to go to Newcastle :o anyone know what time the game is on and finish?

Don't worry though, you won't have mechanics overcharging you in Newcastle if your 1 series breaks down! :p:D

Guys, what about the Jazz Cafe? I've not been in it yet but heard its a good little place? Good for Mischief?

Try a curry hell at the Curry Capital, formerly known as the Rupali, Bigg Market, Newcastle upon Tyne.

An old advert in the Viz carried the following health warning

' The Rupali cannot be held responsible if your ••••hole falls out the bottom of your trousers after eating the curry hell. '

Drinks wise, stay clear of the Bigg Market. It is like Mos Eisley spaceport where Chawas run free.

Im going to the match today and think it'll be something good for them to see. Although they might not be interested it'll show our passion for the game.

Drinks on a night time I would reccommend the gate or the quayside as well or if you dont mind the prices been a little bit on the steep side you could try to diamond strip just along from central station. The long bar is near their and a good bar where you can get some great deals on drinks.

Some lovely restaurants in the gate where you can get something to eat or china town has some lovely all you can eat but these are going to be majorly busy due to the match.

Hope you have a good time and feel welcomed by the fellow geordies :D

Just arrived up here myself (well, on the 10th Jan) and will probably be venturing forth into Newcastle tonight. A few of the lads I'm with (and myself) are into Real Ales, so will be heading up to Bacchus on High Bridge probably. Well, provided we can persuade the lesser men in the group to drink some grown up beer of course. ;). Then, who knows?

Been a few times. Town Center seems ok. Be warned though, come nighttime it quickly becomes full of scantily clad, pasty overweight girls, who all walk around in groups wailing in a geordie accent.

Funny as despite all the matches I have been to, I have never been in the Strawberry.

:o

My dad used to go to the Strawberry when he was in his twenties, and now I've been a few times to the Strawberry too. It does kinda have a nice atmosphere. Recommend you go try it out :) Standing pub, mostly with wooden floors. Its cool!

If you like real beer, then you need to head to my end of town; Ouseburn. Try the Tyne Bar or the Cluny. Much better than the rubbish around the town centre. :)

I think i've seen enough of Newcastle for today.. 4hrs sleep, 5hrs of driving and 6hrs of walking has worn me out -_-

We went to Tynemouth coast, Eldon square, Quayside, and that bridge/river bit where there's a funky looking building. Where's the big sock-like building??

Newcastle people seem to be quite nice and friendly :p Oh and i've noticed a LOT of young people around.. Where are all the old people???

A lot of the girls here wear Ugg boots, so I fitted in well :o And a guy wearing a blue NE1 top approached me and asked if he could help - probably because I was looking a bit lost!!

Glad you had a fun day! The funky looking building you describe is the 'stuffed sock' I described! Older people are usually out on weekdays.

So are you not heading into the Toon later now that you're tired!? You HAVE to go! I'd be out tonight if it wasn't for an exam on Monday :( awesome nightlife, go go go!

Oh so you've moved up, did you move into Dr Winterbottom Halls?

I'm too knackered to go out again :o I'm quite comfortable sitting here in my PJs, gonna get an early night tonight ready for my 5 hour drive back home tomorrow :(

The building you described clearly does not look like a stuffed sock!!!
