I've been looking at flights for 11th-13th Feb, but the prices are silly - £120+ for the round trip. Unfortunately I can't stand the thought of sitting in a coach for the whole journey - is there a better/cheaper way?

Ferry?

I think you could take the train (change at Paris) but that could prove to be just as expensive as a flight. Could be wrong though, worth looking in to.

Try different airports. May work out cheaper to go from a different airport even if you have to pay to get there. For example, Edinburgh & Glasgow airports are far cheaper than Aberdeen a lot of the time.

£120 is a good price considering how late you have left it, with the new taxes etc £90 is about as cheap as it gets

Check out holidayhypermarket.com

look for hotel sander as you get a cheap room that is not shared

just dont bust a doob in the room coz i did that and got an 80 euro fine

This, unless you fly Ryanair.
But then you'll spend the difference on travel to and from the airports..

Skyscanner has shown me much cheaper flights, but not on the day I want to go/return. Obviously weekends are gonna be more expensive, but hey ho.

From where? I can get a train direct to Amsterdam central for £50, well it was in 2007 when I last went Ipswich > Harwich > ferry to the Hook > Amsterdam

South East. I looked at a ferry from Harwich to Hook, but it leaves at 09:00 and I can't get a train up there before 09:19. They do an overnight ferry too, but the added cost of renting a cabin or getting a room in a travel lodge for the morning trip negates any saving I'd make over a flight.

Looks like my best bet is Bristol. I can head up through Southampton and crash overnight with a friend there, train up to Bristol in the morning and fly to Amsterdam from there.

No.
