Keanu Reeves Says Matrix 4 and 5 are Coming

Having just recently watched all 3 films again I'm in two minds about this;

Firstly I didn't think (and never have thought) that the first film was a revolutionary as some do and because of this I probably put all 3 films on a par with one another. As a trilogy it was pretty perfect IMO the first being really an introduction, the second providing the main story with the third ending it all off. I'm pleased on the front that the final film does leave you wondering whether or not Neo is dead

Obviously the main negative about carrying it on is no Trinity this time around

Will be interesting to see what caused the breakdown in the treaty between the Oracle and the Architect.....

I'm a bit surprised about the hate for the last two films. They weren't anywhere near as good as the first but also they certainly weren't bad.

I shudder at the thought of it being scripted for 3D though.

The last two films had too many cheesy soundbites, bad examples of CGI, and roads away from the first which was a masterpiece.

Hopefully this criticism has been taken on board and the 4th and 5th films will be dark and atmospheric like the first.

Well he truly is type casted as Neo he may as well cash in. I can't think of anything of note / that is memorable he's done since.

Agree with Simulatorman, they're just trying to cash in on this I think.

As a spectacle I expect it to be amazing, with great fight sequences.
If thats all it has then I'll be happy, if it actually has good filler between the fights and a half decent storyline then it will be rather excellent imo.

They should have left it at 1 film, would have been an epic forever. I hate the need to cover every little detail in films nowadays.

I Robot should be left as it is too.

I liked the Trilogy. The first was amazing, groundbreaking and was ahead of its time and set some high standards to which films have tried to imitate since.

It is 14 years old this year if my thinking is correct...14 years old!

The second two were good films, I enjoy them. They are not the first but at the same time don't see why everyone cried so much. They continue the story, that is why they were made and what people obviously wanted to see. I know I did, how could you not have wanted more at the end of the Matrix when he realises he's the one and takes on the agents? Thats when it got GOOD! :D

Anyhoo, don't know about a 4th and 5th. Seems a bit much as the story was told and it finished in 3. Peace was achieved, Neo seemed to me like he died, as did Trinity. The war with the machines was the whole premise of the films so bringing it back would only suggest they are doing it to cash in.

We will see I guess. I will go and watch them though.

The Matrix - Great atmosphere, some fresh ideas, bullet time was new and thus awesome. Some excellent fight scenes.
Reloaded - Excellent car chase, burly brawl was pretty good, not much else going for it.
Revolutions - Didn't bring anything new to the table. Action sequences felt rehashed. Plot resolution was horrible.

Who knows. I mean the other 2 were ok but not as good as the first.

I duno about sequels to matrix but id love a prequel as to how it all came about and a good epic battle with human race losing in the end.

Just get a copy of 'The Animatrix' and watch 'The Second Renaissance' parts 1 and 2!, these pretty much tell the whole story of what happened!!..

The first film was not only very good but was a self contained story. The two sequels simply tarnished the first film, and all the prospect of two more sequels does is make me go 'Oh dear...' as soon as I read the thread title.

Yup,

the first had fight scenes that used cool tech and fancy filming, but the pacing of the story is good, their aren't many insane fight sequences, the fights are SHORT, they are believable in the context and aren't there for the sake of it.

The story makes sense, is great and doesn't have any irritating chracters.

The second film, screw it third aswell as I can't remember what rubbish was in what rubbish film.

45 hour long fight scene with loads of Neo's, one of the dullest and most pointless fight scenes in the history of the universe, what was a great character in the first film, guy who then played Elrond in Lotr, became a truly crap character in the next films.

Entire highway fight/chase scene, rubbish, again about 42 days too long, with mostly the same rubbish over and over, and even worse, guys with all kinds of weaponary and ridiculous advantages and them sticking themselves in a vunerable car and they can't kill them, stupid. The fight scene in the backdoor hall was relatively short, the twins who can phaseshift or whatever, overly powerful "programs" that still can't do anything.

This was one of the flaws, the incessant need to go BIGGER in hollywood, meaning the programs had to get stronger and stronger then all of a sudden break ever law of reality within the matrix, be essentially unkillable, but completely unable to hurt the main characters who remain invunerable until the story says so.

THe tribal dancing/sex/rubbish stuff, ridiculous, out of place, with a tinge of racism about it, the speech was horrific, the midget who loves Neo simply a woeful actor but also horrible script. The entire fight inside their base, 72 years of the same things coming out the same hole with the same tech and frankly just rubbish.

THe thing that made the first film so good is it DIDN'T over reach with every single fight, think about it after the fight in the subway station there isn't another real fight in the film, chase, gets shot, then a bit of showing off. The subway fight was barely 5 minutes long, if that, and was brilliant and believable.

The entrance/slowmo/destruction of building scene wasn't very long, but it was mostly in slowmo, without the slow mo it was actually a quick and believable attack. The 100's of Neo's fighting scene wasn't in slow mo, it was just long, and stupid and meant and did nothing.

Matrix 4 and 5 will be rubbish, 2/3 were ALL about effects, they were films built to be fight scenes with some rubbish dialogue to pretend a link between them, it was a CGI ****fest. 3D, theres no way in hell the films won't be about making a new(ish) effect stand out, it will be one epically long and stupid fight scene followed by another, all with ridiculous over the top "must throw stuff at screen" 3D based action.

Boycot it, first film, epic, everything following, hollywood sell out rubbish.
