I agree its utter rubbish.

If something is running at 20fps but its possible for it to run at 60fps - then its not running maxed out.

You may have maxed the graphics out but you havent maxed the game out, two different things.

Well I disagree, I say 120fps is maxed out. So therefor your 60fps is maxing the graphics but not the game. I just won the internet.

Would also like to point out the thousands of crysis videos on youtube with 'max' or 'maxed' in the title, indicating that you are in the minority who considers 60fps a condition of 'maxed settings', as 99% of them wont be running it at 60fps.

Actually I would say it was you who were confusing terms, you were the one that started the argument with the statement that a 5770 can max crysis easily (lol).

Does not compute.

If the makers of Crysis put a frame rate limiter at 25fps, then 25fps would be maxed out, as they dont, its not. End of lesson.

Im still not convinced a 5770 could reach this with everything actually set to max. Still waiting on my mate to let me use his card so I can prove this is infact RUBBISH

Then seeing as theres no 60fps cap, by your own logic 60fps isn't maxed either. You killed your own argument and just proved 'maxed' is what each person deems an acceptable rate to play at.

I'm a bit confused as to what you mean?

I can run TF2 at 200fps. I have gotten extremely high frame rates on Crysis when I've put it to the lowest settings, it has gone to 100fps and beyond.

Because, from my experience, crysis can run at 100fps, does that mean that it's not maxed out unless all settings are set to max and I'm getting 100fps?

No, maxed would be whatever the maximum rate possible is.

Thats the problem you have, you dont seem to understand what maximum means. that's why I said 50/60/120 depending on what refresh rate someones monitor would be.

So what you're saying is that two people with exactly the same system and exactly the same in-game settings, might not both be able to max Crysis? If one has a refresh rate of 60hz, and the other 120hz, then they are in fact limited by their hardware?

I am starting to be able to understand your arguement. But, as I've stated continously in this thread, when I hear the phrase 'maxed out' I always think of max settings.

In my mind, maxing a game has no hardware limitations, unlike your definition.

Agreed. I cannot get anywhere near a playable framerate on my overclocked GTX460 with everything on full at 1080p. Sure parts of the game are smooth, but anything with major lighting effects slows to a crawl. Try the bit just after you get out the other side of the mountain in the snow on your 5770 and let us know how smooth it is.

Tried this? Amazing what a difference it can make.

I've just installed it because I've always wanted to run it. I use the lite version with my 5830 and it gets 35fps average. Not playable for me yet but when I get my crossfire setup the results should be better.

That's exactly what I think, too. The term "maxed out just means running with maximum settings, it doesn't say anything about playability.
You might say, "the game runs smooth maxed out" - in which case, "runs smooth" is the part that talks about performance. "Maxed out" just refers to settings.

I appreciate that, for me 25fps on Crysis is not particularly enjoyable, its playable but headache inducing.

Here is my rig: C2Q [email protected], 8G memory and 6970. Which as you can see it's not the fastest but it's no slouch either.

So, although it has smooth gameplay at times and good average fps there are still dips in fps, so imo, my rig still can't max out Crysis like I said.
