Hi all, so iv 'finalised' my build for now, just looking for a few words of advice:

AMD x6 - 3.3ghz http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-277-AM

650w corsair PSU http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-022-CS

2tb harddrive 6gb/s
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-226-SE

LG BluRay rw http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CD-106-LG

Asus 890GX motherboard - sorry cant link it here as im outsourcing (apologies in advance if m breaking forum rules)

Akasa Venom CPU cooler http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-072-AK

Corsair Vengeance 8gb Ram (1600) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-295-CS

Radeon 6950 (intend to alter bios to 6970) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-027-HS

Main Questions:
1) Will the motherboard be fully compatible with all components? Or can anyone spot any other compatibility issues iv missed?
2) Is the PSU sufficient?
- Any other small adjustments/suggestions would be appriciated

Cheers,

Yes to both questions, what you plan to use PC for?

Thaaank you sir! Tbh i want it to be pretty 'multi-purpose' (dosnt help much i know) - but good with Hd Video & Editing and still able to hold its own when it comes to gaming.

From the look of your profile u clearly seem to know your stuff, so any suggestions or general would be much appreciated (first time build and all)

Ok, so are you sure the RAM i have wouldnt fit? If so would this...?

Plus as for the CPU (forgive my COMPLETE n00bishness) but +1 in the bios would be overclocking right? If thats the case wouldnt it be better to o'clock the 3.3ghz to get better results than an o'clocked 3.2ghz?

Thanks in advance

Yeah, the XMS3 stuff will also fit - and overclock nicely.

It's not n00bish, it's a good question. Generally both the 1100T and 1090T overclock to the same speed, so if you are overclocking the 1090T is the better option, and lets you get a better cooler/pints :p

I would get the Geil RAM posted above as it'll be compatible and a fair bit cheaper. Why risk it? Have a look at this thread, in particular post #3. As you can see when the 120mm fan is attached it will block the first DIMM slot in all likely hood. (Obviously its another motherboard however).

Why have you chosen that particular hard drive. SATA 6Gb/s offer very little performance increases from SATA 2 with mechanical drive. Why not go with an SSD and 1TB for storage?

Any particular reason as to why your going AM3/hex core instead of SB i5 2500K?

AMD Phenom II X6 1100T BE - 3.3GHz - 2MB L2 - 6MB L3
vs
Intel Core i5 2500K - 3.3GHz - 1MB L2 - 6MB L3

If budget won't stretch quite that far, (and it sound like your not really into overclocking either & but a gamer) then ditch the cooler, get and i5 2400 and a H67 board.

Windows 7 Gaming Performance

As you can see the i5 2400 at stock will out perform the hex core AMD.
