Should my data connection always be showing up the top of the status bar or only when its downloading/uploading something?

I've been investigating why my phone seems to eat battery randomly. On Friday night/Saturday morning I used a fully charged battery in less than 8 hours. For the rest of the weekend I used the phone minimally (checking emails etc) and only used 40% of the battery in 36 hours. I think the problems have been caused by the stock internet browser so I have uninstalled it for now.
 
Got a quick question about the DHD.. Is the Chocolate version any different? Am planning on getting one from Orange but they only seem to have the DHD Chocolate!

Just managed to get myself a new contract with them, free DHD, 600mins, unlimited texts, 500MB data for £22 inc VAT pm. Happy enough with that, could have probably pushed them for more but the girl was nice on the phone! :)

You did better than I did then! I got a free DHD, 200 mins, unlimited texts and 500MB internet for £20pm which I don't think is that amazing considering I've been an Orange customer for nearly 11 years. The consensus from a lot of people that I've spoken to seems to be they don't give a toss about long-standing customers...
 
I've been a customer with them for the last 10 years and they've usually been decent to me. I didn't even have to phone up cancellations this time to get that deal like I have had to do for previous contract renewals!

I'll have to see if my loyalty 10% off my bills still stays on my contract this time, if they've taken it off I'll have to phone up and complain! :)
 
Right, I'm just about that close to sending my DHD off to HTC for repair because of the camera. As some of you have probably seen (look at my last reply on this thread) about how blury pictuers come out after taking photos on my DHD, I have tried everything possible to rectify the problem like adjusting the camera settings and changing the lightness, taking photos in the best possible daylightness, constantly cleaning the lens and testing out other camera apps like Camera360 but this bluryness problem still persists!

Before I contact HTC about booking a repair of my phone, I am aware that the process may take a good couple of weeks but have any of you ever submitted your phones in for repair & how good are HTC with repairs & warranties?

Lastly, I did get my DHD directly from the CPW but if I am right, they would just send the phone directly to HTC for something like this wouldn't they so I would be entitled to go straight to HTC about the problem rather than going to CPW first?

Once I can get this camera problem sorted hopefully I will be able to root so I can install Android 2.3 :D

Glad I'm not the only one then :)

I can take a photo while being perfectly still - I even took a photo of my garden with the camera rested on the window sill and it still looks blurred towards the left hand side and very faintly on the right hand side :mad:

I may just send HTC an email for now to see if they are aware of this problem and see if they are working on it or if they suggest that I send my phone in for repair then I will do it.

Maybe if it is firmware based then when I have installed Android 2.3 it may improve it.

I received my DHD today, after waiting over a month for my insurance company to send me a replacement after they decided they couldn't fix my broken Nexus One.

Very pleased with it so far :) It was great that once I done the initial signing in, it installed all the apps and other settings that I had on my Nexus One!

Camera is fine for me, fortunately :)
 
I'm sure its been mentioned in the previous pages but can anyone recommend me a case worth getting for the DHD? Had one of the little gel type ones for my Hero and its served me well!

At the rainforest place, search for "htc desire hd skin", and there'll be a black circle case skin, which is the one I have and fits very well.
 
Well before I can root, it looks like I need to downgrade the software from 1.72 down to 1.32 in order to be able to get VISIONary to work.

I forgot to ask, can rooting void your warranty?
