Any particular reason you haven't chosen to go down the SandyBridge route?

That harddrive isn't really designed to run an OS, more for storage. You would be better off getting something like the Samsung F3, or Black edition of WD range.
 
What would be the equivalent proc for the 760 in Sandybridge (i.e quad core?) (seriously don't know!)

The SSD is in there for the OS, the second HD is there for mp3s etc...
 
Ok, so switched proc to Intel Core i5-2400 3.10GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail [BX80623I52400] (£4 cheaper somehow?)

If anyone's got any Mobo and RAM recommendations for the above, I'd appreciate it!
 
Heh - happens to the best of us... currently switching to 1156, so looking into suitable mobo/ram combos.

I'm going for the 6950 too instead of the 5850, so life's good there.

RAM still looks good. Mobo is another issue and I've not looking into SB mobos enough.

One comment, if you get a 5850, the MSI one is cheaper, and it also comes with AC2. I don't agree with the guy who said to get a 6850 instead, but each to their own :)
 
What do you think of this?





I haven't included the SSD, as the C400 is due out soon I am led to believe, maybe be worth hanging on for that. There is still room in the budget for it however.

No problem if your dead set on the H50. You do get better performance from air coolers and are cheaper however. Gigabyte are right up there with Asus... it's a personal preference, go for the Asus if you like, it's a good board.

Most RAM is fine these days, they are all backed by a lifetime warranty anyway, so any problems, you get a replacement.
