Got a speeding ticket

If your council has a speed awareness programme, you may get invited on this.

I did one at the beginning of January. Was quite good. Still paid the fine but no points.

You will have to attend a Speed awareness course at the city you speeded in..

My Mum was on one recently, and someone from Fife was in the Bristol Speed awareness course.

Speed Awareness... for 10mph over? lol i see coppers doing that and much more all the time and thats without sirens!

£60 plus 3 points.

Some areas do the speed awareness course and you still pay £60 but no points.

However not all regions do this and depends on how bad your speeding was.

You will get a letter anyway. If it offers the course, take it. If not, take the points.

Just remember that it the average now for speeding tickets is one per person per year (subject to annual mileage) so very easy nowadays to rack up 12 points to get banned.

One of our sales reps at work clocked 9 points in the same day from three different speed cameras so now he is driving everywhere within the speed limit or he will lose his licence and job

Err the average is nothing like that or everyone in the country would be on 9 points!

Sorry, my mistake. The statistic is actaully 2m motorists per year for speeding.

There are 35m cars in the uk at the moment so 1 in 17 from fixed get a ticket assuming every car is driven on the road for the mileage.

Of course there are people like my parents who never go above 45mph and have never had a ticket in 40 years of driving so some people are getting way more than 1 in 17 years especially people doing high mileages.

There was recently roadwroks on the M6 with specs cameras which broke the record. It was issuing over 3000 tickets per day while the roadworks 50mph limit was imposed.

And don;t forget the scrots/chavs who don;t care anyway. A recent court case in my local paper had a chav up for driving without tax, insurance, driving licence and he got a £200 fine plus costs.
