New low for this once great nation

How do you know he doesn't need it? How do you know that he hasn't done all he can physically and mentally manage to try and lose weight?

You're managing it ok, that is good for you, and you deserve a medal, but everyone is different.

Because he is still fat?

Really? I've become overweight over the last few years, although nothing as extreme as 20st, I jumped from about 11 stone to 14.5.

Now, I do not eat excessively, I've been eating far more healthy and in lower quantity recently as well as going for runs 3-4 evenings a week. I have lost no weight.

I got up to 17st which at 5'7 is a lot of pork to be carrying so I know at least to a certain degree how difficult it can be to loose weight, and it is as simple as putting in less than your burning and you will loose weight. Granted its a lot easier to say than to do but it works.
Unless there is a background medical issue which I'm sure this guy will have been tested for as hes making such a big thing out of it.

I got down from near enough 26 stone to 15 stone in 2 years through my own efforts. Eat sensibly and exercise. It WILL come off. It's amazing how many fat people apparently suffer from a thyroid disorder r some other condition that allows them to claim victimhood.....

I'm not sure why this is a new low for the ENTIRE nation to be honest.

It's a new low for this guy but he doesn't represent the whole of britain whatsoever. :\

Clearly just a lazy **** and won't work for weight loss. 20stone isn't a huge weight and by no means is his only option a gastric band. The NHS work on budgets and if it comes down to someone just being lazy and not excercising properly then why should the tax payer fund an op when other people are in real need.

Yes its as simple as take in less than you burn and you will lose weight. Simples.

However dieting for example will lower your metabalism, and your body will store everything it can. Hence you need to lower your intake again... vicious circle

So you need to try to exercise as well to keep up, or even increase your metabalism, then you can sustain the amount of calories you take in and lose weight.

I'm told per 300 calories that you take in less than you need to sustain your weight (every day) you will lose 1 pound per week, 600 = 2 pounds etc.

Keeping up blood sugar is vital, as is a spaced out intake. Don't skip all food then eat 1800 calories in a meal, again your body will learn this and store, small regular meals makes it recognise your eating and will not seek to store every calorie.

Slimfast for example recommend 2 meals (bars/shakes), 3 snacks and 1 sensible evening meal per day. Sounds a lot, but with some simple exercise, say 30 mins walking it can sustain a regular weight loss. It won't be as fast as something like Atkins but will keep up essential vitamins etc and if your sensible will maintain a slow but healthy loss.

(I don't work for Slimfast btw)

As an aside, Slimfast's plan is for women. I'm not saying it isn't for men - but it needs adapting slightly (i.e., more calories).

don't tell them that! if you give them the excuse to consume more calories on their diet they'll sneak in a chocolate bar every twenty minutes

Does make you wonder how the NHS has gone to allow such things to happen, someone openly saying they are going to gain weight to get an operation, money that could be spent on helping people out with cancer and other disease they have through no fault of their lifestyle.

Disgusting.

If you get past what the guy is like....

He won't lose the weight without drastic surgery.

Why not?

Surgery will be cheaper for us.
We can't just let him die.
It costs a fortune to treat his diabetes and assorted other ailments.

Maybe he should just grow a set and do some exercise. Fattys don't have any excuses - big bones, slow metabolism, glands etc.. all BS excuses to try and hide the fact they're lazy slobs.

It does explicitly say it in their documentation:

Men on the diet can still follow the same plan, but because their calorie requirements are higher, we recommend they consume between 1600-1800 calories a day. To achieve this, men should increase the calorie content of their evening meal to around 800 calories.
