Best FPS for PC?

I've recently bought a new computer with decent components (i5 2500k @ 4.2ghz, GTX 460 graphics card, 4gb 1600 RAM etc)

And I've ordered a Samsung P2450H 24-inch Widescreen Full HD 1920 x 1080p Monitor today which comes tomorrow hopefully.

So I'm basically asking for opinons on the best FPS games to make use of my new computer?

I really love call of duty (I have all of them apart from Black Ops for Xbox). But I've read so many bad reviews from reviewers/gamers about how laggy/glitchy/rubbish the PC version is of Black Ops, is this true?

I'm tempted to buy Modern Warfare 1, is it good on the PC?

And what other FPS PC games are good for multiplayer?

I've heard that:

Arma 2
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Crysis
Fallout: New Vegas

are good on the computer for multiplayer, would love some opinons and recommendations, I can't wait to build up a good FPS collection for my new computer.

Thanks in advance

call of duty doesnt compare to any of those on the pc, but it does depend on what you like, if i were you id probably get cod black ops and bc2. arma 2 is very difficult as you have to take your time and play it as if you were really in that situation, you cant run and gun! and crysis is a very good game i think im guna have to have a go at it again lol

FNV doesn't have multiplayer

if it's for single player and you don't mind 3rd person then I would strongly recommend Mass effect 2

FPS games that require a bit of thinking are a nice way to mix it up than the run and gun games like Call of Duty, so Arma 2 is a good military simulation then? What's the multiplayer like?

And Black Ops, is it fine on PC even with all the bad comments I've read about the PC version? I don't want to buy it if it's going to crash and have lag issues when playing online.

Half Life 2 + ep 1 + 2 with Cinmod 10.10 installed. Amazing...

Sadly, single player only but still a great looking FPS on the PC.

Modern Warfare on the PC BTW is every bit as good as the console version - but I only played the single play campaign...!!

Hmmm so from a single player viewpoint given a couple of great FPS for PC..

I'm currently playing through Mass Effect 2 on the PS3 and quite surprised at the level of third person action there is in this game.. But you really need to play Mass Effect 1 to understand Mass Effect 2, as there is a lot of cross over.

good single player game though..

I've got Half Life already!

I'm more interested in multiplayer FPS games, I think I'm going to buy Modern Warfare 1 and Black Ops.

But there is a new version of Arma 2 which is ARMA II Operation Arrowhead. Which one do I buy, the original or newer version?

And how good is BC2 online?, I've never played it before.

As far as I'm aware, Crysis doesn't really have a strong multiplayer. Cracking single player though.

Bad Company 2 is your best bet for a recent, brilliant multiplayer FPS.

would recommend crysis and warhead most of all, don't listen to all the rubbish about how the game turns rubbish after the 'aliens' appear, its great from start to finish! :D
