Just had a 'free' energy idea...

Ahh Scotland :D

Ahhh welsh immigrant. :D Jealous of countries with infrastructure are we? :p

On a more serious note you'll find it everywhere. Most towns have small - medium size cannabis farms or simply people who just want to theft what they want.

I don't know if right of entry laws are different. In Scotland they need a warrant to check mains supply.

Oh and hoovering back the spindle in the gas meter. That's free energy too if they are stupid enough to have those meters still kicking about.

+1 nobel prize for me :p

Well its just an idea, i think nano tech has the potential to extract a lot of energy from the environment people wouldn't normally consider.

Get rid of the idea of 'free' energy, energy is only converted from one source to another but getting 99+% is the quest that most energy seeking scientists are seeking.

I'm sorry but this is discrimination of the highest order and don't feel such opinion should be allowed on this forum, banter or not.

I can see an instant problem with that.

Big massive craps. :p

Hahaha.

I know of a man who tried to rig his lekky that he basically destroyed his electrical system and nearly killed himself trying to do so! And then owed the energy company a lot. :p As they're not stupid. xD

It's not banter, he actually means it, and I don't understand how he hasn't been banned yet. Acting like that should result in a permaban.

Free energy would be making use of our many rivers. I always find the sheer power of the various weirs around here quite impressive, as well as watching the simple flow of the rivers, thinking about the volume of water which is passing by. Throw a stick in, or watch any debris and it flows away at a rate of several knots.

You see all of this free potential energy in this huge volume of natural water, then look up and see Didcot power stations cooling towers steaming away as it burns millions of tons of coal.

Something went wrong somewhere :p

Taper the tube so it is wider at the bottom than at the top, then the pressure would force the water out of the top.

No it wouldn't. Well, the water would come out of the top, but not for the reason you've given. As the height of a column is inversely proportional to the width of the tube, it won't be able to rise above the wide bit into the narrower bit.
