Audi R8 Spyder

It's hard to say without seeing it in the flesh, but that shape looks worse than the coupé.

How does it look with the roof up?

Why is the windscreen frame always silver?

I have a bit of an irrational dislike for R8s. Probably due to the type of people who are typically drawn to them, I.E drug dealers, posers and footballers.

The finial nail in the coffin was when I experineced the interior in person. I'd imagine when dropping six figures on a car the owner would expect it to feel 'special', instead it had that universal Audi 'vibe' to everything which is a brilliant thing when choosing a diesel A3 as your new company car, but I can't think of anything more off putting at this end of the market.

yes

somebody has over generalized to make a point that the R8 has a long options list.

See for yourself :

http://configurator.audi.co.uk

As you can see

Bluetooth
Satnav
CD Changer

and the Audi music interface are all optional extras.

But you still get a hifi with a CD player, aircon etc..

haha, just managed to add £24,165.00 in options onto an A4 Allroad. That's £61k on an A4!! :D:D:D

Yes right. The interior is just that of an A3 TDI

He's not wrong mind. A friend had an R8, the interior wasn't anything stunning or a million miles away from the rest of the audi range. Nothing screamed 'special' really.

He's kinda right in what he says, look around and you will see lots of bits borrowed from all over the Audi range, not a bad thing imho means its well built.

However what he fails to mention or doesn't know is once you sit behind the wheel non of that matters, because it feels like no other Audi, everything is in the right place, the cockpit wraps around you, it feels fantastic and no less special than a 911 etc.

Glad you agree because that is exactly what I just said .

You post come to this conclusion so I would say yes. Have one to

Audi make excellent switch gear and interiors! Just look what they have done for Lamborghini, they work! Look at other 'supercars' which have better made 'insides'?

Would love to experience one on the road becasue from looks alone it just seems a bit... sterile?

That said, there's a silver R8 that gets about round here and it always catches my eye. Think it's becasue of the lights being lit up, gives it a Tron kind of presence, even in sterile silver.

But hey ho, what the **** do I know, I'm hopeless at life and can't even drive at the moment due to my own hopelessness, things like R8s will always pass me by, driven by someone with a bigger penis than me no doubt.

An interior feel/vibe is not something you can accurately judge by looking at pictures on the internet (even then your chosen picture hardly makes the interior seem fantastic)

Get in a Bentley Mulssane or Rolls Royce Phantom and there is no denying that you've got into a very, very special car. Get into an Audi R8 and there is no denying that you've just got into an Audi. As far as I am concerned that just isn't acceptable for a car easily into the six figures bracket.

It's why a Flying Spur feels special and a A8 in compassion feels like an overgrown minicab despite them sharing a lot of components. The difference is that the A8 feels like an Audi and the Bentley feels special.
