Ok im not going to go into the whole 480 or 6950 battle as it seems to be more flip of a coin at the moment they both have pros and cons against each other.
I think ive decided on the ATI range
Is any perticualr 6950 reccomended?
Obviously with the deal for £209 for the VTX (who i have not heard of so a little sceptical) seems the best bet?

I would be looking to flash to a 6970 so if any were better or easier to do than others?

How would i stand in the future for buying another card on sticking them in CF obviously by which point im sure ATI will have shaved the shaders of 6950 boards making them unupgradeable.
That would make an argument for getting 2 now! (But dont have that kind of cash)
Would i be able to stick either a 6950 or actual 6970 onto this board flashed?

Thanks for your help guys

there are plenty of people all over the net with heat and noise issues with the 6970 and 6950 ( not one myself im happy with my sapphire 6970) but what powrcolor have done here is cherry pick the chips added an aftermarket cooler and sure there is going to be a premium to pay for this, at the mo we are only looking at a expected price for instance another supplier are advertising a own brand 6850 oc wich happens to be a powercolor premium edition that comes with a aftermarket cooler and overclocked and that is the cheapest 6850 they sell so who knows the price of this 6950 may be better than anyone thinks

Its 265 quid :p

So I don't see the point...

The whole point with flashing is getting performance for free.

The 6970 is cheaper here at OCUK

That's just their guess at the price. If it's 265 it won't sell. I've no idea what the RRP on graphics cards is really like, but any time I've seen one it's been higher than the real price.

I'm holding off at the moment to see what becomes of these Powercolor cards. I'm thinking of a pair of them. Or a pair of some other 6970 with non-reference cooling... depending on price. The 460 ti and the 1GB 6950 will maybe shake prices up a little. There seems to be a lot of non-reference cards arriving soon.
