I have a large amount of DVDs which we need to shift, I dont have the energy to sell them individually via the members market, have anyone used the shops on the high street (The red and white one), dont want to mension the name due to rules.. I have over 90 films, im not sure thed like to take them all in, in one go.. Ive heard they sometimes run out of money, so your then forced to do the instore vouchers. In people expirences I am I better off with ebay and then selling them in catagories?

Music Magpie + 1, i sold a buttload of music and dvds, games to them last year, very easy to do and they collect if the list is more than 100 items :)

I looked at that music magpie, they looked ok for CDs but I was put off by some of the value they offer for the newer DVDS. For example from my Dune cable series boxset cable series I think they were gonna give me £2, where another place offered £5.

Id probably use that for music.

Other options were taking them into town and trading them in there, or online auction.

Gonna go with auction as they are all the same types of film, and should sell as one lot. If I get £70+ I`ll be happy as they have all been watched and Ive had hours of fun watching them. I can put the money toward some new release blue rays.

I used music magpie, sure I didn't get as much as I would on eBay (if anyone buys DVDs anymore?) but it was quick and easy

Wavey, if you're not sure if you're allowed to mention the name of a place, don't hint, it's looked at as pretty much the same thing.

If I am not allowed to use the word "cold" but try and circumvent that by saying "it's the opposite of hot, and when you're in that state you start to shiver" people aren't going to think you mean sleepy! :p

On a lighter note, I'd likely just try and get rid of all of them at once. The bottom has fallen out of DVD's, and frankly, I'd want to dropkick someone if they offered me 2 pounds for a movie, let alone the 1 pound or less.

You could always try and stick them on MM as sets of 10, for example for 20 pounds for 10 movies. Other than that, the other stores mentioned are your only option!

This is why I really think about buying films, and often settle for collectors items or boxsets. There is no point whatsoever in building a collection up only for a few years later for it to be virtually worthless. Thank god for dvd rent companies.

You could try the bulk sell option on eBay but they usually don't even shift then.

That's reassuring, been thinking of sending the last of my dvds to musicmagpie, probably still have well over a hundred which haven't sold in MM.

If you think the post is contravening the rules then there is a report button, click on that and then the real Dons will take a look. :p

You could try listing them as a job lot on MM or at least do them as discrete bundles of say 10 at a time to see if there's any interest - if there is then great as it's cost you nothing to list them, if not then you're not really any worse off.

Agreed with some of the comments about the value of them, I watch my films on a projector and now DVDs dont look so great, so blueray is really the way forward.

Thanks for the advise, I calcalated all of the DVDS on CEX and it came to about £60 for vouchers, £40 cash, so I am gonna put them on the bay. The majority of them are SCFI horror so they can selll as one whole lot.

I am alittle put off collecting DVDs now, as its just disappointing to see how they de-value.

Rental is good, lovefilm do a service where you can view them online. But only standard defination, when they improve this will be great.

I've never found the price of the DVDs or how little they're worth now to be a huge issue for me - it's rare that I have spent over £5 for a DVD even if it's brand new so while I've got a fair number it's not the end of the world that I probably would struggle to muster 20p and a packet of Sherbert Dib-**** for them currently. Not that my saying that is much use to you at present. :o

//edit I had no idea that word was added to the swear filter, there was me thinking I was just giving sweets their name. :D
