MGS4 Appreciation thread

I have never played any MGS game apart from the original on the PS1. Now that was a special game, I was glued to it for 2 days. Everytime these threads pop up, those who have played them all mostly rate the original one as the best, so I am happy to have just played that one. :D It will remain in my personal top 5 games ever list. :)
 
It's crap.

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes is a far superior game, I think 4 is the worst MGS of the bunch, even including adventures of surfer boi Raiden.

I love the first game but the Gamecube remake feels better to play, unless you want to play it on your PSP in which case it still looks pretty great. (on the small screen)
 
Have a copy of 4 for the PS3 but yet to play it,played mgs 1 many moons ago on the ps1 and loved it to bits. Bought Mgs 2 for the PC but couldn't get it to run and eventually gave up on it. No idea about mgs3,which platform was this released on?

Will definitely play 4 soon but i'm slightly reluctant as I haven't played 2 or 3,maybe i'll have another go at getting 2 to run on the PC.
 
Reading this thread make me check out a few iconic cutscenes from the series last night... Good times :) Epic series.
 
All brilliant games, enjoyed the original story the best but I think overall I've played 3 the most, snake eater was just brilliant, can't count the number of hours I must have spent playing it over and over.
MGS is just epic
 
My issue with mgs2 from a quick blast last night was I was unable to aim and move which I'm used to now. Plus I couldn't aim the stun hand gun without it firing even if I didn't want it to. This control system might force me to quit sand wait for mgs3 instead.
 
Bought it on release, and hated it, then gave it to a friend never to be seen again. But, I've played the one that was on PSP last year to death (loved it!), and now I think I'm ready to give this another shot.

Is the first one still on the store? May pick it up later.

mgs4 is amazing. loved it from start to finish. i really need to pick it up again!

although, my favourite was mgs 3 snake eater. the whole setting in the cold war, in russia, with weapons from the 60's-70' era was just so awesome. also, it had a lot of easter eggs which were pretty fun. i liked fooling guards with the croc hat :D and throwing poisonous snakes at them lol.
 
I bought this 2nd hand about 18 months ago but only started playing it a few months ago. I was playing it tonight when I receive a video call saying (paraphrased slightly)

"I know you're having fun but it's that time. It's time for disc 2. Find the disc labelled 'disc 2' in the case and insert it now"

Mini panick from me as I know I only have 1 disc

then it continues...

"Oh wait, we are on the Sony PS3 system with a blu-ray drive, dual layer too so it's all on the 1 disc! Carry on"
