UFC 126 Thread

I got a feeling the elusive Rich franklin will take the win... forrest is just gonna come into the ring like the ape he is, his hearts all gold and hes a warrior but Franklins just too experienced and elusive imo.

Jones is just another spider silva, lanky powerful and accurate strikes... but yeah bader could easily win, thats what makes the match good when there so close, Danas said another win from both of them puts them in the no1-no2 contender spot, I think both have prooved after 11-12 almost wins and no 'real' defeats they should have gone for the belt a long time ago :)

Out of the 2 I think Bader has had the more testing opposition, not to say he is better than Jones. But he has a better resume of people he has beaten so to speak.

Could either of them win the title? Yes

Could they hold it in the deeeeep 205 division, I'm not so sure.

I dont know why but I keep getting the feeling Bader will win by GNP - JJ hasnt really fought a true wrestler except lumbering Matt Hammill, and I'm not sure of his wrestling credentials? Cant find anything on a college wrestling background etc. Plus the idea of Bader beating Rua I find *very* hard to take; Shogun to me is just perfect at the moment going off his last 2 fights.

I'd like to see Bader fight Couture to be honest, that would be a good interesting match up.

From Wiki:
He is a three-time NCAA Division III National Champion in wrestling (167 lb class in 1997, 190 lb class in 1998 and 197 lb class in 1999) while attending the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, New York.[2] Hamill also has a silver medal in Greco-Roman wrestling and a gold medal in freestyle wrestling from the 2001 Summer Deaflympics.

He has decent wrestling and Jones threw him around like a toy.

Sorry, I meant Jon Jones credentials not Hammills. My bad! I cant see if JJ did any collegiate stuff etc and there wasnt anything on Wik.

He was a Greco Roman wrestler I think he won a state championship at junior college or something along those lines, I can't seem to find any facts right now but I'm sure that is about right.

Let the old chap get banged up by Machida before you go feeding him another loss :D

You know im so glad randy keeps going on... just gives MMA such a good name but yeah I heard Dana saying if machida looses to Randy thats 3 straight losses and could potentialy mean hes cut....

And right now ufc is cutting guys even after 1 loss !

I think though it depends on the person, Machida is hardly a no one so if anything he proberly would get more chances...

It would have been awesome if Rashad vs Machida II happen, a true champ has to put his rights wrong and Rashad hasnt done anything for almost a year waiting for shogun just my opinion mind.

i dont understand how randy couture gives mma a good name by simply going on? he loses 1 in every 3 fights, and a lot of his wins have came from very poor opposition. in fact it just shows how poor the UFC's heavyweight division is. Strikeforce have the much better heavyweight division, fedor, overeem and werdum would all be in the top 5 in the UFC HW division.

just look at randy's last couple of fights toney and coleman, coleman is the same age as randy but you can tell he hasnt aged well he looks like he is 80, toney is an overweight average boxer with no mma skills.

machida on the other hand was undefeated ufc hw champ not so long ago. he is overated and i dont know how he is going to cope up against a much heavier wrestler. should make an interesting fight, but couture has nothing more to offer, he should retire.

tbh i think it would be best if the sport was unified somehow, and strikeforce and the ufc fighters could fight each other as well as within their own company. strikeforce has women fighters though, which is just wrong, that should be made illegal or a separate organisation.

Werdum had his shot in the UFC, and was certainly not top 5. Just beacuse he now has beaten Fedor, does not somehow catapult him into the top 5 at UFC.

Will never happen, Dana and the Fertitas have a huge monopoly on the sport and want to keep it that way.

Make women fighting illegal? What?

Think Psycho may have lost his mind :D

Randy has more title fights than he does non-title fights, I don't think anyone else can claim that. He may never hold a title again but he still draws the crowds and can still cause upsets.
As for Machida being a former HW Champ????? He fights at LHW. He won't be fighting a much bigger guy in Randy because they're the same height/reach virtually and it's a LHW bout so there won't really be a weight difference. The comment about women fighting is just wrong.

Yeah even id agree Randy is on his way out possible retirement but its just good too always see a guy that old move and fight the way he does regardless of losses and wins :)

I think Dana hinted a while back that we will never see woman fight in the ufc but then he said perhaps....the only question I have is when the pretty fit girls with names like cyborg trott into the ufc, does this mean were forced to have Ring-guys holding the 1-2-3 round cards up ?

I let him off the Machida being the HW champ as i thought it might have just been a typo :D

Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort
Forrest Griffin vs. Rich Franklin
Jake Ellenberger vs. Carlos Eduardo Rocha
Jon Jones vs. Ryan Bader
Miguel Torres vs. Antonio Banuelos

Really liking the look of UFC 126. I think Belfort is for sure the Silva's biggest challenge and I would like to see him win but my head says that Silva is capable of another win even given the similarity in styles and level of competition. I hope the Jones-Bader fight is as good as everyone expects but I think Jones will edge the win. I don't know much about Torres or Banuelos but looking at their recent form and styles i'll go with Banuelos!

The weekend can't come soon enough!

yeah it was a typo.

women fighters is just wrong, the same way women professional bodybuilders is wrong.

if you guys are into shemales, i have no problem with it, i just dont think it should be shown at the same event as male fights. im all for a girl doing it to keep fit and as exercise, but they shouldn't compete, why would you wanna see a woman's skull being crushed? its just wrong.

theirs a reason why they have extremely hot ring girls at ufc shows, nobody wants to see a munter 90% naked, and nobody wants to a bunch of shemale's fighting.

dude cyborg is far from pretty and its questionable that she is a girl, she looks like wanderlei silva in drag. in fact im pretty sure you could convince a lot of people that it actually is wanderlei silva in drag.

Who cares how they look? Most people watch it for the fighting.

Reminds me I saw a new film released lately called
'This Aint UFC' luckerly there were woman in that film.

Regarding MMA and female fighters yes its rare but there are a few gems in there some of them do look very manly I think u gotta look like a man before doing some serious damage :)

I'm firmly in the "against women MMA fighters", its my opinion so I'm expecting a "haw haw I'm an MMA afficienado" type of response from some people, but I just dont like the idea of women fighting when you can watch much better male fighters do it. Its like womens football all over again.

PS: Not long to go now :)
