Hi, im looking for a new monitor and i like the look and the spec of the asus VG236HE.
what does this monitor perform like and is there better for the money. looking to spend around £300

:)

It seems to be a good option. Based on feedback from many users and a colleague of mine who has tested it it seems to be very responsive with 'well hidden' trailing. It is a TN panel, of course, so colour reproduction is far from perfect - but the glossy screen really helps add a bit of vibrancy to the colours. Coupled with the very high brightness of the screen it's a really good performer in both 2D and 3D and you'll undoubtedly love it.

bought it, love it. Games are smooth and with a little lighting control, the glossy screen gives a really nice vibrant look.

Agreed with 100%,but with one slight warning/bit of advice.Just make sure you have a graphics card that`s up to pumping out at least 80-120 fps on a regular basis at 1920x1080 on your games of choice to get the best from it.Although if you have an ATI card,as of driver 10.12 you can now use 120hz on nearly all the lower resses that the monitor can display.Previously, on ati cards anyway you were stuck at 60hz.

I'm between the Asus or the Alienware AW2310, at present just £97 more, so a bit more expensive, or go for the Samsung, it's for my son. GC in his is a GTX295.

I don't think it's worth the extra, performance wise, the difference is going to be minimal, they're both 120hz TN film panels, the Alienware looks nicer though, so if that's important to you then it may be something you're prepared to stump up the cash for. I'm happy with the Asus, it's great for gaming.
