Dead Space 2 who's buying?

Bought and played today, at chapter 6-7 I think, very hard to keep track of chapters as there seems to be no obvious switch over.

I'm enjoying the game, it's very fun, not scary in the slightest though, they have rehashed every single shock tactic from DS1 so you know what to expect and what you expect to happen ALWAYS happens. Don't even get me started on those little trips you go through with the girlfriend. Also the random addition of children's bedrooms with creepy music. This game is trying FAR too hard to be scary and failing on every point. DS 1 shocked me a few times, this is trying to shock me in exactly the same way, very dull.

Oh and I'm getting a bit bored of the absurd darkness, the only thing it does is annoy me because I know that as soon as I enter a dark area I will be mobbed by dozens of super fast monsters, it's not scary or tense, it's just annoying.

What drivers was you using and can you check if Anti-Aliasing works with Dead Space 2?

Cheers

Using the latest set (11.1 64bit) and I've disabled AA in game. I'm tempted to stick it on via the CCC but to be honest I'm not noticing any jaggies in game without it (res 1440x900).

Don't understand where he's coming from on the price. I paid £20 while console gamers pay what, £35? That's hardly the same price.

In the US the price is the same as the console versions - $60, which is why many American gamers are so angry the PC is missing DLC and unlocks.

This but still a good game.

Maybe i'm missing something but i'm stuck in a zero-g section with fire blocking the large door. Seems they want you to disable the oxygen generators in the hope of starving the fire. So i remove two batteries but the fire doesnt go out. If i dont go back tonight i fear i never will.

I got stuck on this for a few minutes, the answer is so obvious you're going to want to slap yourself. Noticed all the objects floating in the air?

YOU'RE IN ZERO mavity YOU FOOL!!! :D

The last battery to disconnect is right at the top of the room, theres a power node on the second or third floor as well so dont miss that on your way up.

Agree on the childrens music but i didnt think the areas were too dark and i often found dark areas didnt have any enemies in, i can only recall one power outage which leads to an ambush. A lot of the areas in the game i was expecting to have something jump out in front of me but nothing ever happened.

I think the scariest bits in this game for me were non scripted events where i didnt realise i had a black slasher (or whatever they are) behind me primed to rip my spine out.

Is that it? Damn these games confuse me.....must return to Tetris :D

I read through your previous post and you actually answered your own question. I suppose because isaac still walks on the floor like theres mavity it doesnt occur to the player that they can just float away if they want.

Just completed a 'fresh' run through on the harder difficulty, i cant say i noticed and difference between that and hard, i still had truck loads of medkits and money at the end. I may try for insane, i think if anything i will die on one of the reaction based events and not in normal combat.

I still haven't tried any of the new weapons other than the javelin gun, so i may mess around and give them a shot

Doh, just when I'd persuaded myself to buy it, the price went up to £24. Guess I'll wait a couple months for it to come back down :p Yes, I'm a cheapskate. And? :p

Anyone played the multiplayer yet? I can't until the 9th because my net has been limited for exceeding bandwidth :'(

Dead Space 2, who's buying?

After I wasted money on the first one and found it to be near unplayable due to stupid control issues caused by a sloppy conversion from console I decided that they will get no further cash from me.

Besides I found the first one a bit meh, not really worth finding and implementing a workaround.

The question was "who is buying?" not "who is not buying?"

Only had to disable Vsync.
