The AMD Radeon HD 6990, likely to be one of the most powerful GPU’s released in the first Quarter of February, will have 2 Cayman GPU’s. The card also features 3072 stream processors and a nice 4GB of memory. They also use a dual 256-bit memory interface, allowing huge bandwidth.

No flaming please ;)

^^ Well its unlikely to be running the full 6970 clocks, tho it may be possible for the end user to push it that far, tho I'd have imagined it would be a little faster than the 5970 - tho possibly not worth the upgrade for anyone who already has 5970.

That is an ugly card which from initial specs will not be much faster than the outgoing 5970.

Not sure how you have come to that conclusion, even if the cores ran @ 6950 speeds then it would be a pretty good jump in performance and I suspect they will OC well past 6950 speeds. It is f'ugly though.

Though DEFINITELY not worth the upgrade...

the 5970 eats through solid steel!

Though DEFINITELY not worth the upgrade FOR ME (that's me me me me me) ...

Fixed for you .....

Lived with both have you? Care to share your experience?

I had my 5970 for a year @ 950/1300 and I now have XFire 695(7)0s with 2GB per GPU ... no regrets thus far. In fact I may get one of these to pair with one of my current cards ...

Well we already know from people unlocking 6950's and downclocking to 6950 speeds that its slightly faster so we are looking at slightly better than 6950 CF performance expected.
It won't make much sense to me unless they target it at £450-£500 for at least the first month or 2 of release, unlikely but should be possible.
