*** 25/02/2011 EXTENSION! *** DEAL OF CENTURY: Asus GeForce GTX 480 1536MB Graphics Card with 2 FREE

So... up to 800MHz core (still stock volts, which is nice), and the improvement over my 885MHz core 460 is now 29.8%

Temps 87C and 64% fan stable, and fan is back down to 44% in less than a minute, so this is all looking (and sounding) good. On a par with my 4870 at load with 63% fan speed, but much more than that and I can see me getting annoyed with it, so that define the limits of my clocking rather than temps or the limits of the card.

Edit: oh, but I did notice that the heat of the air vented out the back of the card is insane! It really is like a mini-fan heater. I kind of dread the summer, but it seems to be coping ok at the moment...

Nice temps for a decent OC.

I am not going to attempt it for a while.

I want to make sure everything is ok before i tinker, but your description makes me want to as well :D.

Aye, it does pump the heat out alright

My ASUS GTX 480

1.125V Core voltage

Core/Shader/Mem 950/1900/4400Mhz

100% STABLE! 24/7

Temp max 34C Full Load on water.

Completly silent ;D

It's weird the difference in fan profiles. Like latepmas, I have 1950 at 44% fan speed, and in fact I don't get the 2950RPM you were reporting until 52%, and I agree that that would be unbearable for an idle noise level!

You have the same BIOS, so it's hard to see what's different. What driver are you using? Could they make a difference to the fan speeds?

266.58.

Impressive card and temps. Shame it costs more than these 480's did and is a bit slower. Coming from GTX460's @ 950MHz I know how good the GF11x's are.

I'm still on 260.99. I'm really not sure if that would/could make any difference in this regard, but it is odd to see such difference fan speeds for the same percentage of the fan's supposed full speed. With the same card, same BIOS, I can't think of anything else it could be, though.

Any tips on where I can get hold of a side panel? I also have an 832...and been looking for the side panel for ages :(

What happened to the side panel that came with yours?

I would check their dutch website for parts. If nothing there send them a mail as they may have some as spares.

I got 4 of the new dust mesh filters for free just be mailing a guy called Jacob.

i am hoping GPU-Z is reporting these temps wrong.

On max temp it says 123 degrees

It shows two gpu temp sections though.

Afterburner has it at the high 60's .

Could gpu-z be wrong?

mmm - that top GPU temp don't look right ? I looked at other GPU-Z results for 480 and couldn't see any others maxed out at 123C - which is normally the default "no reading" - ie the sensor is bust or not being read properly

He edited his original post, he actually mentioned an 560 in that, which you can see 555BUK quoted, thats where the confusion crept in.
Ignoring all that, that is a damn fine overclock and temp, love to be able to acheive that.

Well, I don't know what happened, but as I was benching I found that 840MHz core at stock volts froze in Heaven, so I hit reset.

Now, instead of idling at 64C and 44% fan, it's idling at 70C and 39% fan (which is 1710RPM). Ok, this is a bit hotter than I'd like for idle, but the major plus is that now I actually can't hear the fan!

Getting better and better with this card! Definitely a keeper for me :D

Thing is though in that screenshot Furmark has only been running for 20s and it's already only 1C off the quoted 24/7 max of 34C. Try leaving it going for a few mins and see if it creeps up any higher.

Look closely, only 20min on full load but it's been stable at 33C all that time, 34C that was max after playing Mafia2 for about 4hrs :D

Doh, I mean I have a 831, the side panel is optional with these ones. Will look into the dutch option!
