Have just installed my new ati asus 6870 v/c.
I installed the drivers off the cd,which also loaded CCC.
The ATI2MTAG says 8.782.0.0,so i'm wondering what version the driver is,as it doesn't actually say in CCC,whether it is 10.2 version etc,as i know 11.1,or 11.2 is now out.
Would they make any difference?

Also i have installed the "ATI High Definition Audio device",and i'm wondering if i need that,as i have a s/c Audigy 2 zs for my sound?

My v/c temps on idle is 44C,is that okay? Can't really hear it.

Thanks

It's 10.10 WHQL.

Afaik you only need the HD audio device if you're wanting sound over HDMI. Just disable it in device manager.

44c sounds fine.

The site you took me to is for win7,but i'm using winxp pro 32 for the 11.1a,so is ther another site to download those 11.1a drivers for winxp pro?

THANKS.

Anyone know where i can download 11.1A drivers for my Asus 6870 for winxp pro 32,or isn't there any for winxp pro 32?

If there isn't any, what suitable lastest drivers would be okay?

Thanks.

Do yourself a favour and move over to windows 7. You have a dx11 card but can't use this feature. Also windows 7 is much better than xp. I did not want to move over myself but when i did i was impressed and would never go back.

Aye, he's right, W7 is way better m8. You would fairly benefit from another 2Gb of RAM. Go for x64 version.

Although Gigabyte might not officially support W7 (though this will be because of spftware bundled with the mainboard, not the physical limitations of the hardware) it will run it just fine. Intel have released chipset drivers for the hardware on that board (native windows drivers would suffice anyway).

Re: #7. You only need the driver however the CCC is handy to make global changes to the driver. You can make the changes in CCC and end the task (along with MOM.exe) to free up some resources. CCC is always available by right-clicking desktop anyway.

Yes,i will have a good think about that,win7,i thought i might have to put more mem in,also i have 2 mem slots free.

I don't understand what you mean by "MOM.EXE" is that some other software?

Thanks.

It runs if you install the whole Catalyst suite. But it isn't required once you have set up your graphics properties to your liking.

It is perfectly safe to run, all I'm suggesting is that it isn't required, in the same way as running Windows Media Player isn't required if you aren't for example listening to music.

No probs there Royal.

If you do add some more RAM in the future, be careful to buy the same gear as you have already.
