They are not an aftermarket ICE installer, they are a main dealer sales and service centre.

It's entirely appropriate that an aftermarket ICE installer would install a Parrot instead, it's more the area they specialise in and they've got far more experience in doing so.

I'd have thought many/most dealers would have contacts with third party companies who they can sublet work out to?

I'd be surprised. The E60 even hooked up to all but the newest of phones and works with all Android phones and iPhone 4

I know but it still makes little sense. BMW Bluetooth works with virtually every phone out there - if there are a few it doesnt work with they will be an ancient and I'm not sure I understand the logic of spending money fitting your £40,000 car out with an aftermarket phone system instead of the fantastic included built in one just because you cant use your 5 year old phone with it..

I'm sure it is something to do with one of his phones not pairing with the car, I'm fairly sure he has a blackberry mind you - I'd expect it to work with that.

You may think the Bluetooth works with "virtually every phone out there" in practice, it seems different.

I have two phones, a 1 year old Samsung cheapie that I use at work, one a Sony Ericsson W995. Both will pair happily with my sisters E320 yet neither will pair with my old mans newer C180!

I have had similar experiences with new Scania & Volvo trucks, some will pair, some won't!

I'd guess the f10 will come back from the dealers with the phone behaving after a software update.

I'd rather get a phone that worked with my car than a car that works with my phone, by which I mean no after-market installed would be let within a million miles of my spanking new F10 to hack in a Parrot system. I'd just research which phones worked and buy a new phone.

Its a company car, and he's more bothered that the phone works rather than how it works and by what means, unlike most of us here, he's not into cars at all (waste of an f10 tbh but never mind!

I'm fairly sure (again, I'd have to ask him) that he used a Parrot in his previous e60 which also had bluetooth!

That's what I did with when I had an E61. It was a good excuse for changing a phone at the time.

My portfolio i wont ever sell, me brother might sell you his in 3 years though
