Woke up this morning to the shock of my life, Two emails from Paypal confirming transactions, one of £993.78 and one of £6.82 to two different people, at first I though it was one of those spam emails that you sometimes get, but the I checked my bank account and

I have opened a dispute with paypal, any ideas how long it will take me to get my money back? I'm quite worried at the moment, as it's two weeks till payday and I now have £0 to my name

If you haven't already done so, I would contact your bank immediately and explain the position to them.

Hope you get it all sorted out OK.

I have changed passwords on my paypal account, What would the bank be able to do? isnt it paypals problem

Yes, but money has been taken from your account illegally, and without your authorisation, so they may be willing to offer you a temporary overdraft or something, while it is being sorted out.

It certainly can't do any harm and is something I would certainly be doing, under the circumstances.

As KnightStalker has just said, they might even still be able to reverse the transaction.... just call them, and do it NOW!

I'd be doing this now.

I have phoned the bank, and they can't do anything legally till after 30 days if Paypal hasn't done anything by then, have spoke to paypal and it could take up to 10 days to get sorted :(

As for money, looks like a trip to dads is in order haha

They may be able to block the transaction before it goes through. (ignore this :p)

This is why I always use my CC for online payments, that way if I fall victim to fraud I don't have a period of losing that money.

Do you use the same password on paypal as you do on other sites? A similar thing happened to me after a common password I use was hacked from a small website.

Contact your bank they will be most helpful. Paypal take a good few weeks to sort out issues as they have to investigate it and try to contact the person that recieved the money from your hackers its a long cycle.
