As above really? I'm looking at starting an apprenticeship with E.on but was thinking, at 21, am I to old to start a 3 year course? I can live with the fact that the money won't be great, and that I will most likely be surrounded by a younger group, but I just feel that at 21 this is something I should have done a long time ago?

Any thoughts?

If there are no limits on the apprenticeship in terms of age then why would you not go for it? I'm assuming here that it's something you want to do, if that's the case then I don't think you should worry too much about maybe being a year or two older than other people on the programme.

Long story short 21 is in no way too old to do an apprenticeship.

Not too old at all, there are a few people i work with started their apprenticeships in their late 20's one is currently 35. I started my apprenticeship when i was 19.

Starting at 21 is not too old and being a year or two older than the others will make no difference at all.

Not at all, I started mine at 21. Was a 2 year and completed it in 18 months and ended up with a permanent position. Glad I did it tbh.

Not at all - When I was at college doing my NVQ level 2 - I was the youngest there at 18 in a class with people ranging from 18 - 40 -- Granted not all of them were doing Apprenticeships, but many were.

It is something I really want to do. Im hoping that my electrical qualifications will help in the long run. Will just have to wait for the intake now. Fingers crossed!

You're never too old to start an apprenticeship. When I started my mechanical engineering one I went into the workshop and there was an old guy sitting at the table with a piece of paper and a pen. Naturally I assumed it was my tutor so said 'Good morning Sir' to which he replied 'Er... i'm doing an apprenticeship myself, Clinton (my tutor) has just nipped out'. He was 54 which left me red faced but at the time I didn't know there was no age limit.

After I finish my level 3 I have to find an apprenteship to become decent spark and get a licence. I'd say go for it. though it is hard as their isn't that many apprenteships out there atm.

im doing an advanced apprentership, which is probably aimed at slightly older people but only by a year or 2 - on our course most people are around 21 or so, but theres a few knocking on 30 and one guy whos 40, so no your not, id go for it if you can mate... i work for national grid and loving it so far :D

Not at all too old! At 23 I'd be pretty keen if there was an apprenticeship available in something I wanted to do.

I'm 21 and have been trying to get on various apprenticeships, just waiting to be rejected from the last one.

21 is still very young, go for it in the understanding that you will not have much money for a few years.

Never too old. I re-started my career at 31 with a 4 year course and about a £10K pay cut.

You've got to do what you enjoy or one day you'll wake up and wonder where your life went and why you hate it so much. Go for it I say :)
