Computer or ps3?

get a ps3 and have fun with your mates.

with £1100, you could get both. but id prioritize a ps3 if i were you, gaming alone is no fun.

Realistically, unless you can afford to drop £200 upgrading your PC every year (or two), then I would stick to PS3 for games and your current laptop for everything else. Console games are more expensive in comparison but you don't have to keep upgrading the hardware in order to play them.

I'm fortunate that I've got my own PC to play FPS games on and my girlfriend bought me a PS3 a few years ago (one of the "worst decisions she ever made", apparently :) ).

I may sound like a GOM, but when I was 12 I had a paper round and earned some extra money that way. Why not do some jobs around the house to get some more money?

But that isn't true is it? Sure, you would like to keep upgrading every 2 years in order to play the latest games at full settings, but it's hardly a requirement. I've just built a full PC for a mate for £350 inc OS and monitor, which'll be able to play all of the latest games at settings surpassing the consoles, and will continue to do so at least until the new consoles are out.

Since game development is seemingly tied to consoles, I don't see how a console port will play worse if it's released a year from now, than those out now. The hardware they were designed for won't have changed.

Oh, and if you've got £1100 to spend, get both - obvious surely? (And share the monitor)

at your age i would simply suggest go the ps3 route. The question you really need to ask is how much are my parents going to spend on you to have a pc? you wont be able to build a pc as good as a ps3 if there only willing to invest the price of a ps3 for you which is around £250? new games come out on the ps3 and it only requires you to put the disk in the drive and play. For a pc it can be more complicated if you have driver issues / not good enough specs. Best times ive had myself is playing with my RL friends, if they dont PC game and all use ps3's id say get the ps3 than as it just makes sence. Last thing which you want is "hey guys lets do a fifa tournament on the ps3 tonight", and you go "I only have a pc".

*** edit *** ive seen people say you have £1100 to spend, in that case just ask for both and explain you would like to buy a ps3, and use £800 to build a good pc that will last you for the rest of your high school, for school work and gaming. This way they wont be spending any more or less money than agreed.

Here's what you do sonny jim.

you get both. How you ask? Listen up.

You show them this:

But make sure you scroll down a little so they don't see the PS3 at the top. Grab their card and buy it. You hide your PS3 in your room but you connect it to the 23" LED LG screen through HDMI cable and they will never know!

Likewise. I had him with at least a 5850 Twin Frozor on that rig and even that over priced it. Think it may be the PS3 is a little too pricey on there.

Could go with this, but then no game for the PS3

buy the pc, play crysis 2 when its out with MAX settings n a huge resolution
then get your mates to compare it to there crappy 360 n ps3 versions graphics :)

then theyl all want a "propper" pc n you'll be god!!! :P

I've had a PS3 and numerous Xbox 360s. All I can say is that game consoles are crap compared to gaming PCs - the graphics on a PC are just so much more immersive and of a better quality.

Go with a good PC.

best quote of this thread. You wont have to play on your own either, there are lots of clan on each and every game that accept younger members, You seem quiet grown up so i dont think you will have a problem finding friends in game.

Once you are playing the best way of gaming and your school friends want to join you, you can them add them to a clan with you.

happy gaming.

With that amount of money to spend you could get both. The choice between the 2 is dependant on what you want to be doing game wise. With some game releases they come out on the PC a lot later than the ps3 so if you are a bit impatiant you may want the ps3.

wow your lucky £1100 pounds, you could easily get both.

£250 - PS3
£150 - For a nice monitor.
£700 - For a PC could kit you out with a Sandybridge and a 6950.
